COMMUNIQUE
Adopted by the Peace and Security Council (PSC) of the African Union (AU), at its 1325th meeting held on 22 January 2026, on consideration of the Political Transition in the Republic of Guinea:
The Peace and Security Council,
Recalling all its previous decisions and pronouncements on the Situation in Guinea, particularly Communiqué [PSC/PR/COMM.1284.1 (2025)] adopted at the 1284th meeting held on 19 June 2025 on Consideration of the Report of the Field Mission to the Republic of Guinea, conducted from 30 to 31 May 2025; Communiqué [PSC/PR/COMM.1212 (2024)] adopted at its 1212th meeting held on 20 May 2024; and Communiqué [PSC/PR/COMM.1030 (2021)] adopted at its 1030th meeting held on 10 September 2021;
Reaffirming the AU’s commitment to respect the independence, sovereignty, territorial integrity and national unity of Guinea; and also reaffirming the AU’s solidarity and commitment to continue accompanying the people of Guinea in their quest for promoting constitutionalism and democratic governance;
Taking note of the opening remarks by H.E. Ambassador Jean-Leon Ngandu Illunga, Permanent Representative of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to the AU and PSC Chairperson for January 2026; the introductory statement by H.E. Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, the Chairperson of the AU Commission; and the statement by H.E. Ambassador Harold Saffa, Permanent Representative of the Republic of Sierra Leone representing the Chairperson of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS); as well as the statement by H.E. Dr. Morissada Kouyaté, Minister of Foreign Affairs for African Integration and Guineans Established Abroad; and
