President William Ruto on Monday chaired a special meeting of the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) Party’s National Governing Council (NGC) at State House, Nairobi.
The event brought together the party’s top leadership to take stock of the government’s performance and chart the party’s political direction.
The high-level meeting, convened under the leadership of Ruto as UDA party leader, attracted governors, Members of Parliament from both the National Assembly and the Senate, Members of County Assemblies (MCAs), and members of the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC).
Deputy Party Leader Kithure Kindiki and senior party official Governor Isa Timamy assisted the President in chairing the session.
At the centre of the deliberations was a comprehensive scorecard on the implementation of the Kenya Kwanza administration’s manifesto, anchored on the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).
Party leaders were briefed on progress made across key pillars of the agenda.
The meeting also received a detailed report from the party’s National Elections Board (NEB) on the status of UDA’s grassroots elections.
The elections are aimed at strengthening the party’s internal democratic structures from the ward level upwards, ahead of future electoral contests.
In a significant political development, the NGC deliberated on and ratified a resolution by the National Executive Committee authorising President Ruto, in his capacity as party leader, to commence structured negotiations with the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).
The proposed talks are intended to formalise cooperation between UDA and ODM, a move that could reshape the country’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 General Election.
