*Nigerian fintech company Paga and global payment platform PayPal have rolled out a connection service allowing customers to merge their accounts across both systems. Users can now receive international earnings and withdraw them in local currency through Paga’s digital infrastructure.
The new capability enables Nigerians to bridge their PayPal profiles with Paga’s mobile wallet system, making cross-border income accessible for domestic use. Received funds can be withdrawn in Naira, applied toward everyday expenses, and transferred to Nigerian bank accounts. The service primarily targets independent contractors, e-commerce vendors, business owners, and shoppers participating in global markets.
The partnership extends opportunities for Nigerian enterprises pursuing international clientele. Businesses gain access to PayPal’s worldwide customer base while maintaining settlement operations through established local financial infrastructure. According to both companies, the initiative aims to strengthen engagement in international trade and fuel growth among small enterprises.

Tayo Oviosu, Founder and Group CEO of Paga, described the launch as addressing practical payment needs. “We are proud to make this integration live and available to users across Nigeria,” said Oviosu. “Whether you’re a freelancer receiving international payments, a business selling online, or a consumer shopping globally, this collaboration makes it easier to access and use global funds locally, in a way that’s simple, secure, and built for our markets.”
Otto Williams, Senior Vice President, Regional Head and General Manager of PayPal Middle East and Africa, emphasized partnership strategy. “We’ve been intentional about partnering with local innovators like Paga and developing solutions that help Nigerians earn, spend, and grow,” said Williams. “This collaboration helps strengthen the broader payments ecosystem by supporting local innovation, expanding financial inclusion, and enabling more consumers and businesses to participate confidently in the digital economy.”
Customers can begin using the service through the Paga mobile application or website at www.paga.com by completing the account connection process.
