Ethiopia _ TPLF Ethiopia _ TPLF

The situation in Tigray urgently demands a new approach. The people of Tigray have become deeply disappointed that current communications, notably from the TPLF, continue to offer rhetoric rather than concrete pathways to peace, reconciliation, and recovery. It is vital that TPlF move beyond repetitive statements and engage in substantive dialogue to meet the pressing needs of the Tigrayan people.

The current juncture in Tigray demands an urgent, unvarnished introspection into the  political landscape and the trajectory of the  future. The persistent, often bellicose rhetoric emanating from certain long-standing political figures in Tigray has regrettably become a default posture in public discourse, not a genuine call for strategic action or careful de-escalation. This posturing appears less as a commitment to actual conflict readiness and more as a calculated bid for immediate attention, perhaps even a seat at a negotiating table, rather than a reflection of true capability or conviction for war.

In the years following the Pretoria Agreement, the expected healing and unity have been overshadowed by a deep chasm of disillusionment and a disturbing trend of self-reproach within the  political fabric. Tangible progress has been elusive, replaced by a pervasive sense of internal discord that signals profound divisions. The repetitive, often uninspired pronouncements from TPLF has only exacerbated the formidable challenges facing the people of Tigray, serving as a stark mirror to internal political turmoil rather than addressing the core needs of the people of Tigray.

A pervasive inertia, fueled by an unwillingness to cede influence or embrace evolving realities, has allowed a familiar cohort to maintain an entrenched grip on the political narrative. Their reluctance to acknowledge the passage of time and the imperative for fresh perspectives has kept TPLF, permanently occupying a stage where new voices are desperately needed. Critically, this internal disarray inadvertently strengthens the hand of external actors, most notably the Prosperity Party, allowing them to consolidate political leverage and influence their fate.

The solution now falls squarely upon Tigray’s dynamic new generation to seize the reins of its destiny. This is a pivotal moment for them to initiate a new phase of struggle – one that transcends the calcified grievances and worn-out paradigms of the past. It is imperative to construct a vibrant and prosperous future for Tigray, unburdened by the errors of previous eras. The pursuit of justice and sustainable development cannot be deferred; the paramount interests of the Tigrayan people must unequivocally supersede any personal or factional agendas.

For three decades, rather than ushering in enduring prosperity, the political leadership of TPlF has often, in the name of the people, inadvertently sown discord and conflict. A reckoning for these historical misjudgments and the profound harm inflicted upon the Tigray people is not merely desirable, but essential. Meanwhile, it is deeply concerning to observe some still manipulating public sentiment from the political stage, while others strategically pursue self-serving interests by integrating into various political structures, including the Prosperity Party itself.

The people of Tigray must, at this very moment, break free from the burdensome political legacy of the TPlF past. Through the determined efforts of its own sons and daughters, a new and bright chapter must be forged. This demands a leadership defined by unwavering integrity, selfless devotion to the collective good, and an unyielding commitment to delivering palpable, transformative change that genuinely prioritizes the aspirations and well-being of every Tagaru.
