{"id":10078,"date":"2026-01-07T21:48:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-07T21:48:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/10078\/"},"modified":"2026-01-07T21:48:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-07T21:48:11","slug":"newly-ordained-deacons-in-tanzania-cautioned-against-influences-that-weaken-fidelity-to-christ","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/10078\/","title":{"rendered":"Newly Ordained Deacons in Tanzania Cautioned against Influences that Weaken Fidelity to Christ"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The member of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.catholic-hierarchy.org\/diocese\/dqoss.html\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Holy Spirit Fathers Society of Apostolic Life <\/a>(ALCP\/OSS) encouraged the Deacons-elect to always remain close to the people they serve.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBe people who go even to the margins and carry the smell of the sheep,\u201d he said, adding that the Deacons\u2019 mission is essential so that \u201cthe people of God may not lack shepherds.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Bishop Mlola reminded the Deacons-elect that being set apart for ministry is an invitation to a deeper conformity to Christ, saying, \u201cWhen you are set apart for this special rank, you are invited to become more like Christ.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMay the priesthood of Christ be made manifest in the celebrations you will carry out,\u201d the Tanzanian Catholic Church leader said and went on to underscore the need for sacrificial service, calling on the Deacons-elect to \u201cGive yourselves as an offering.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He said, \u201cGo and offer the sacrifice of your lives, your time, and give priority to service, which is serving others.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGo and be light\u2014not the light of the sun or of a lamp, but let your lives that represent Christ himself shine upon people, so that they may see Christ in your lives and in your service,\u201d Bishop Mlola told the newly ordained Deacons, encouraging them to become become\u00a0visible witnesses of Christ in their service.<\/p>\n<p>The Bishop further emphasized that \u201cwhat is essential is to persevere in our discipleship\u201d urging them to always encounter Christ in Scripture, the sacraments, especially the Holy Eucharist, and in the poor, the sick, the imprisoned, and the hungry.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn these, let us see Jesus and recognize him in what we do each day and in all that we encounter on the journey of life,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>                    <a href=\"#\"><br \/>\n                      <img decoding=\"async\" style=\"border-radius: 50%; margin: 0; width: 75px;\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/nicholas_1748377605.jpeg\" alt=\"Nicholas Waigwa\" loading=\"lazy\"\/><br \/>\n                    <\/a><\/p>\n<p>Nicholas Waigwa is a Kenyan multimedia journalist and broadcast technician with a professional background in creating engaging news stories and broadcasting content across multiple media platforms.
