This comes after Microsoft\u2019s collaboration with satellite internet provider <a href=\"https:\/\/techweez.com\/tag\/starlink\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Starlink<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For the Kenyan market, this collaboration means Mawingu will lead the deployment of low-earth orbit <a href=\"https:\/\/techweez.com\/tag\/satelite-internet\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">satellite internet <\/a>using its established rural broadband infrastructure and community-first deployment model.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMawingu will deploy, integrate, and operationalise connectivity across 450 community hubs in rural and peri-urban regions nationwide. The company has been working globally to make the internet more accessible and to bring more people into the digital economy.<\/p>\n<p>Originally, the tech giant planned to expand internet access to 250 million people by the end of 2025. Through partnerships like the Kenyan one with Mawingu, this goal was surpassed.<\/p>\n<p>In a blog <a href=\"https:\/\/blogs.microsoft.com\/on-the-issues\/2026\/02\/24\/empowering-communities-to-enable-the-global-ai-economy\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">post<\/a>, Microsoft wrote, \u201cWe are proud to share that we have met and exceeded that goal, extending connectivity coverage to over 299 million people worldwide, including more than 124 million across Africa.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Across Africa, Microsoft is running similar programs with local partners in South Africa, Malawi, Ghana, Nigeria, and Zambia.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-167486\" data-lazy- data-lazy- data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1772165957_347_image-9.png\"\/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/02\/1772165957_347_image-9.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-167486\"  \/><\/p>\n<p>For Starlink, which recorded 19,470 subscribers in Kenya as of September 2025, this is yet another partnership that brings its services to the African market.
