{"id":11368,"date":"2026-01-08T14:49:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T14:49:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/11368\/"},"modified":"2026-01-08T14:49:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T14:49:09","slug":"railas-ex-aide-maurice-ogeta-appointed-mombasa-county-security-adviser","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/11368\/","title":{"rendered":"Raila\u2019s ex-aide Maurice Ogeta appointed Mombasa County security adviser"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/5b252138-86d0-41d0-8210-a34af4aceb18.jpg\" class=\"ui-draggable ui-draggable-handle\" style=\"max-width: 100%; width: 100%;\"\/>Raila ex-aide Maurice Ogeta with Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nasir on January 8, 2025.\/HANDOUT<\/p>\n<p>Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nassir has appointed former aide to Raila Odinga, Maurice Ogeta as county Adviser on Security Affairs.<\/p>\n<p>The governor said the appointment was made following the establishment of the position by the Mombasa County Public Service Board, in line with the law.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\n&#13;<br \/>\nIn a statement, Nassir cited Ogeta&#8217;s extensive experience and deep institutional knowledge gained at local, regional and global levels.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have today made appointments in the Executive Office of the Governor following the establishment of positions by the Mombasa County Public Service Board, in line with the provisions of the law.\u00a0Mr. Maurice Ogeta has been appointed to serve as Advisor, Security Affairs in the County Government of Mombasa, the governor said.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;This appointment is informed by his many years of experience and deep institutional knowledge built at local, regional and global levels, including his service to our late Founding Party Leader, H. E. Raila Odinga, C.G.H.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/387d4703-784f-43fc-9862-def7dc455748.jpg\" class=\"ui-draggable ui-draggable-handle\" style=\"font-size: 0.875rem; width: 100%;\"\/>Raila ex-aide Maurice Ogeta receives his appointment letter from Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nasir on January 8, 2025.\/HANDOUT<\/p>\n<p>Ogeta previously worked closely with the late founding ODM party leader, Raila Odinga.&#13;\n<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nThe governor also named Ken Ambani as Advisor on Creative Arts, a move aimed at revitalising Mombasa\u2019s creative sector. Nassir said Ambani\u2019s first-hand experience and understanding of the industry will be key in supporting artists, empowering youth and growing the county\u2019s creative economy.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I have also appointed Ken Ambani as my Advisor on Creative Arts. His wealth of knowledge and first-hand experience in the sector will be instrumental as we work to revive and grow the creative industry in Mombasa for the benefit of our artists, youth and the wider economy.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/68ad85fc-075a-4041-8fbd-cc6b4a5c482b.jpg\" class=\"ui-draggable ui-draggable-handle\" style=\"max-width: 100%; width: 100%;\"\/>Raila ex-aide Maurice Ogeta with Mombasa Governor Abdulswamad Nasir on January 8, 2025.\/HANDOUT<\/p>\n<p>The development comes weeks after former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria announced plans to support Ogeta establish a VIP protection and training company.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking at Ogeta\u2019s Uyoma home in Siaya County in December,\u00a0 Kuria said the initiative is driven by a desire to help Ogeta transition into entrepreneurship while sharing his professional experience with others.<\/p>\n<p>Kuria described Ogeta as a highly skilled and dedicated professional whose expertise should be institutionalised through a formal business rather than confined to personal assignments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think Morris should impact other people. That is what Baba would have wanted,\u201d Kuria said, referring to Raila.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf Baba would come back to find Morris serving as bodyguard to a small person like Moses Kuria, Baba would be upset.
