NBA
\nAfrica, together with the French development agency AFD, on Thursday launched
\na new initiative making basketball accessible to students with disabilities in
\nKenya. <\/p>\n

The
\nprogram was officially unveiled at the Isinya School for the Deaf, where young
\nparticipants experienced their first adapted basketball drills and life skills
\nsessions designed for all abilities was presided over by Fikirini Jacobs,
\nPrincipal Secretary at the State Department for Youth Affairs and Creative
\nEconomy. <\/p>\n

Speaking
\nat the event, the PS highlighted the importance of inclusive sports as a tool
\nfor personal growth and social integration, calling the program “a
\nplatform where every child can explore their potential and develop essential
\nskills for life.”<\/p>\n

The
\ninitiative focuses on children with hearing, visual, and physical impairments,
\ngiving them a chance to build confidence, teamwork, discipline, and leadership.\n<\/p>\n

Coaches
\nand educators are being trained to lead sessions that are safe, engaging, and
\nadapted to meet the diverse needs of students, ensuring no child is left out.<\/p>\n

Anne-Gael
\nChapuis, AFD Director for Kenya, said, “This program is about more than
\nbasketball. It creates opportunities, builds self esteem, and promotes
\ninclusion for young people across Kenya. We are proud to partner with NBA and
\nlocal organizations to make sports accessible to all.”<\/p>\n

During
\nthe launch, attendees had the opportunity to see demonstrations of modified
\nbasketball activities and participated in conversations on how to integrate
\nchildren of all abilities into structured sports programs.<\/p>\n

The
\nsessions highlighted how inclusive sports can teach life skills while fostering
\na sense of belonging and teamwork.<\/p>\n

Over
\nthe coming months, the Disability Inclusion component will reach 32 specialized
\nschools in Nairobi, Kajiado, Machakos, and Kiambu counties. <\/p>\n

Combined
\nwith the wider Basketball Experience program, which now includes 128 schools
\nnationwide, the expansion will give thousands of children the chance to engage
\nin sport and develop personal skills.<\/p>\n

By
\nmaking basketball more accessible, organizers hope to inspire a new generation
\nof young people who are confident, capable, and included, demonstrating that
