{"id":12004,"date":"2026-01-08T21:44:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-08T21:44:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/12004\/"},"modified":"2026-01-08T21:44:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-08T21:44:07","slug":"starlink-not-allowed-in-south-africa-because-i-am-not-black-elon-musk-renews-discrimination-claims","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/12004\/","title":{"rendered":"Starlink not allowed in South Africa because I am not black: Elon Musk renews discrimination claims"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Starlink chief <a class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/news\/india\/elon-musks-x-gets-48-hour-extension-from-india-to-file-action-report-on-vulgar-obscene-content-11767699300105.html\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"Elon Musk\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Elon Musk<\/a> reiterated his claim on Thursday that Starlink is not being allowed to be an Internet provider in South Africa because &#8220;I am not Black&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Musk said, \u201c<a class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/topic\/starlink\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" data-vars-anchor-text=\"Starlink\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Starlink<\/a> is not allowed to have an Internet provider license in South Africa for the sole reason that I am not Black,\u201d adding, \u201cThis is not ok.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Musk made the comment as he shared an excerpt of his interview at the Qatar Economic Forum in 2025, where he made similar claims. In the interview, he said, &#8220;There are 140 laws in South Africa that basically give strong preference to if you are a black South African and not otherwise. Starlink is not allowed to operate in South Africa, because I\u2019m not black.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>This was not the only message posted from Musk&#8217;s X account regarding <a class=\"backlink\" target=\"_blank\" href=\"https:\/\/www.livemint.com\/topic\/south-africa\" data-vars-page-type=\"story\" data-vars-link-type=\"Manual\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">South Africa<\/a> on Thursday. In another instance, the Tesla boss said that &#8220;South Africa now has more anti-White laws than there were anti-Black laws under Apartheid!&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;I am extremely opposed to anti-Black laws, but equally opposed to the laws against White people or other races too.
