{"id":123299,"date":"2026-03-08T18:29:08","date_gmt":"2026-03-08T18:29:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/123299\/"},"modified":"2026-03-08T18:29:08","modified_gmt":"2026-03-08T18:29:08","slug":"tinubu-celebrates-women-on-international-womens-day","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/123299\/","title":{"rendered":"Tinubu Celebrates Women on International Women&#8217;s Day"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>President Bola Tinubu on Sunday celebrated Nigerian women at home and in the diaspora, describing them as central to the country\u2019s development and progress.\n<\/p>\n<p>In a message to mark the 2026 International Women\u2019s Day, the President said women across different sectors of society continue to demonstrate resilience, courage and determination that sustain the nation.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday, on International Women\u2019s Day, I celebrate the women of Nigeria, at home and abroad.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAcross our homes, farms, markets, offices, and the halls of leadership, Nigerian women continue to demonstrate strength, courage, and determination that help hold our nation together,\u201dTinubu said.<\/p>\n<p>He noted that women play vital roles in nation-building, describing them as mothers, entrepreneurs, professionals and citizens who contribute significantly to the country\u2019s development.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey are mothers who nurture, entrepreneurs who build, professionals who lead, and citizens who continue to shape the destiny of our country with resilience and dignity.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>The President also acknowledged the historical and contemporary contributions of women to Nigeria\u2019s democratic growth and socio-economic advancement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNigeria\u2019s progress has always carried the imprint of women who refused to accept limits placed before them.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFrom those who fought for our democracy to the millions who labour daily to support their families and communities, their contributions to nation-building are profound.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>Tinubu added that the government remains committed to creating opportunities that would allow women and girls to realise their full potential.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur duty as a government and as a society is to continue creating the conditions where every Nigerian girl can learn, every woman can thrive economically, and every voice can contribute to our national development.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>Emphasising the impact of women on national progress, he said, \u201cWhen Nigerian women rise, Nigeria rises.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p>The President concluded by honouring the strength, sacrifices and enduring contributions of women to the country.\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cToday we honour their strength, their sacrifices, and their enduring role in the story of our country.
