The decision, they \u200csaid, was taken based on information provided by the player.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;In hindsight, this wildcard should not have been granted,&#8221; Tennis Kenya said in a statement on Thursday. &#8220;The federation has taken note of this experience and will ensure that such an extremely rare occurrence never happens again.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"ET logo\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/118783427.cms.png\" width=\"90%\"\/>Live Events<br \/> The <a ref=\"dofollow\" data-ga-onclick=\"Inarticle articleshow link click#News#href\" href=\"https:\/\/m.economictimes.com\/topic\/egyptian-tennis-federation\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\">Egyptian Tennis Federation<\/a> distanced themselves from the debacle, \u200dtelling the Daily Mail and BBC that Abdelkader is not registered with the organisation and played no role in \u200dher nomination or \u2060entry.<br \/>They added that \u2060they had no further information about her tennis background, despite her ITF profile stating that she has played the sport since the age of 14.
