On Jan. 15, Uganda will hold general elections to choose both its president and the 519 voting members of its parliament. The incumbent, 81-year-old President Museveni of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), is seeking a seventh term against a field of seven other presidential candidates. Key among these challengers is 43-year-old Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, more commonly known as Bobi Wine, who leads the National Unity Platform (NUP), the country&#8217;s main opposition party. If no presidential candidate secures more than 50% of the vote in the Jan. 15 ballot, the race will go to a run-off, for which the date has yet to be announced.
