Ruto has launched the NYOTA Project Business<br \/>\nStart-Up Capital disbursement for six counties in the North Rift region, which targets thousands of youth with capital support to begin and expand<br \/>\nbusinesses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">The programme will see Ksh.235,575,000<br \/>\ndisbursed to 9,423 youths from Uasin Gishu, Elgeyo Marakwet,<br \/>\nNandi, Trans-Nzoia, Turkana, and West Pokot counties.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Each beneficiary will receive Ksh.25,000, with Ksh.22,000<br \/>\ndeposited into the Pochi La Biashara Wallet to support business operations,<br \/>\nwhile Ksh.3,000 will be deposited into the Haba Na Haba savings<br \/>\naccount under NSSF to encourage a savings culture among young<br \/>\nentrepreneurs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Speaking at the launch held in\u00a0Eldoret, Uasin Gishu County,\u00a0President Ruto hailed the NYOTA Project as \u201ca benchmark<br \/>\nfor transparency and inclusivity,\u201d saying it gives \u201cevery young Kenyan<br \/>\nan equal chance through a fully digitised process.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">He said the initiative<br \/>\nis a flagship youth empowerment programme focusing on job creation and<br \/>\nenterprise development, and complements other interventions, including<br \/>\nopportunities under the affordable housing project, labour export, and the<br \/>\ndigital economy.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">County Governors from the benefiting counties pledged<br \/>\nsupport to NYOTA beneficiaries, committing to waive business licences and cess<br \/>\ncharges to reduce the cost of doing business, while also promising to provide<br \/>\nadditional enterprise development funds for further capital needs.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">During a high-level mentorship session hosted by Susan<br \/>\nMangeni, Principal Secretary in the State Department for MSMEs Development,<br \/>\nPresident Ruto shared his personal journey as a hustler in Maili Tisa, urging<br \/>\nyouths to remain resilient and make use of initiatives such as the Hustler Fund,<br \/>\nUwezo Fund, and the Micro and Small Enterprises Authority to grow their<br \/>\nbusinesses.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Development Wycliffe<br \/>\nOparanya described the NYOTA Project as \u201cthe largest youth job creation<br \/>\nexercise in Kenya\u2019s history,\u201d saying it guarantees fairness with \u201cat<br \/>\nleast 70 beneficiaries reached in each of the 1,450 wards across the country.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy and<br \/>\nSports Salim Mvurya urged beneficiaries to invest the funds wisely,<br \/>\nnoting that additional components such as Job Experience and Recognition of<br \/>\nPrior Learning, will roll out after completion of business support activities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"MsoNormal\">National Assembly Trade and Cooperatives Committee Vice<br \/>\nChair Marianne Keitany noted that Parliament is considering the<br \/>\nStart-Up Bill, which seeks to improve the operating environment for MSMEs by<br \/>\nmainstreaming
