Ryzon Materials and China\u2019s Yintai Xinhai Mining have signed a
\nnon-binding heads of agreement (HoA) covering an engineering,
\nprocurement, construction and management (EPC+M) contract for the
\nNachu graphite project in southern Tanzania.<\/p>\n
\nThrough its subsidiary Uranex Tanzania, Ryzon holds 100%
\nownership of the Nachu project, located near Ruangwa, about 220km
\nfrom the port of Mtwara.<\/p>\n
\nThe project is designed to produce up to 80,000tpa of graphite
\nconcentrate. Ryzon has previously reported that Nachu hosts a
\nJORC-compliant graphite resource, although the company has not yet
\ndisclosed updated reserve estimates or final mine-life
\nprojections.<\/p>\n
\nUnder the HoA, Xinhai will deliver revised capital cost
\nestimates for the project\u2019s first development stage during the
\ncurrent quarter and complete detailed engineering, following an
\nearlier technical update released on September30,2025.<\/p>\n
\nRyzon chairman Frank Poullas said the agreement marks progress
\ntoward construction. \u201cWe appreciate the support we continue to
\nreceive from Xinhai and its partners,\u201d Poullas said. \u201cWe look
\nforward to moving towards major development works in the coming
\nyear.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nThe HoA sets out a pathway to a binding EPC+M contract, with
\nXinhai scheduled to submit a formal proposal in Q2 2026, covering
\nplant design, construction scope and delivery timelines.<\/p>\n
Xinhai is also supporting project financing, with discussions
\nunder way with several potential lenders and strategic partners,
\nprimarily in China. The parties are targeting at least 80% of total
\nproject funding through debt, although the total capital
\nrequirement has not yet been disclosed.<\/p>\n
Xinhai chairman Elon Zhang said the company had completed
\nextensive technical work on the asset. \u201cWith the numerous site
\nvisits our company has conducted at Nachu and all the test work
\ncompleted in our lab, I have no doubt that Nachu is a unique
\ngraphite mine,\u201d Zhang said. \u201cWe will push to bring the project into
\nproduction in the shortest possible timeframe.\u201d<\/p>\n
\nRyzon has not yet provided an updated timetable for final
\npermitting, including environmental approvals and a mining licence,
\nwhich will be required before construction can begin.<\/p>\n
Tanzania has become a growing hub for graphite development, as
\ndemand rises for battery minerals used in electric vehicles and
\nenergy storage.\u00a0<\/p>\n
