The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has summoned a government official to record a statement as part of ongoing investigations into matters relating to asset verification and procurement processes.<\/p>\n

A requisition dated January 8, 2026,
\nand issued by an officer attached to the EACC Police Station at Integrity
\nCentre, directs the official to appear before investigators on January 9, 2026,
\nat 9 am.<\/p>\n

\nThe summons, issued under Section 52
\nof the National Police Service Act No. 11A of 2011, notes that the Commission
\nhas \u201creasons to believe\u201d the official may have information relevant to the
\ninvestigation. <\/p>\n


\n
\nThe acknowledgement section of the
\ndocument shows that the summons was received and signed for.<\/p>\n


\n
\nThe requisition follows a search
\noperation conducted earlier the same day at the official\u2019s residence and
\noffice. <\/p>\n


\n
\nAccording to EACC, the search is
\npart of a wider review of allegations concerning graft, procurement issues,
\nand the acquisition of assets whose value is stated to be approximately Sh1
\nbillion. <\/p>\n

\nThe review period covers January 1,
\n2021, to January 8, 2026. <\/p>\n


\n
\nA portion of the inquiry also
\nconcerns procurement processes from the official’s earlier public-sector role.<\/p>\n


\n
\nEACC investigators indicated that
\nmaterials obtained during the operation will undergo further examination to
\ndetermine the appropriate next steps in line with the Anti-Corruption and
\nEconomic Crimes Act (ACECA).<\/p>\n


\n
\nThe Commission has clarified that no
\ncharges have been preferred and that the summons is part of routine
\ninvestigative procedures intended to gather information. <\/p>\n


\n
\nEACC further noted that any
\nsubsequent action will depend on the outcome of the ongoing review. <\/p>\n


\n
\nPossible measures under ACECA, where
\napplicable and subject to evidence, may include recommending prosecution,
\ninitiating forfeiture proceedings for assets that cannot be explained, or
\nseeking confiscation of property found to be linked to corruption.<\/p>\n

\nThe Commission has not issued
\nadditional public comments beyond what is contained in the requisition and
