While we may be heading towards the end of the Festive Season break, that shouldn’t stop you from planning your next adventure – 2026 really is your oyster at this point.<\/p>\n

With that in mind, I’ve been doing a little digging on your behalf to find the perfect spots for you to rest your head while exploring all that Cape Town and its surrounds have to offer – and there’s a lot, just give our best things to do in Cape Town guides a read<\/a>.<\/p>\n

What’s even better is that I have found a number of places for those on a budget – and at under R1,000 per night for two people (that’s $60,\u00a0\u20ac51,\u00a0\u00a345 at the time of writing), what more could you ask for?<\/p>\n

Okay, I’m nearly done with the formalities and you can continue to read on below, but I’ve also ensured that all the main areas for exploration are covered, and conveniently broken it down for you. Pleasure.<\/p>\n

Cape Town Central

If you\u00a0want to be in the hustle and bustle of the city of Cape Town<\/a> itself, you’ve come to the right place. With the V&A Waterfront<\/a> on your doorstep (pretty much), Table Mountain and Lion’s Head<\/a> a short drive away, and some stunning beaches<\/a> wrapping around you, staying centrally makes a lot of sense. Then you’ve got amazing exploration spots like Kloof Street<\/a>\u00a0(check out Asoka for dinner and drinks<\/a>), Bree Street<\/a>, and the East City<\/a>, which will open up a world of flavours for you and your travel partner.<\/p>\n

As I’m sure you can imagine, finding accommodation for under R1,000 a night was tough in central Cape Town, but there is a spot that if you book it at the right time, you can secure it for just under a grand. I spied one or two nights still available at about R988 in February. It’s small, but most importantly, it’s close to all the main attractions of Cape Town – and that’s all that matters, right?<\/p>\n

Cape Town’s Southern Suburbs

Claremont in the Southern Suburbs is a charming spot to set up your base for exploring Cape Town. Cavendish is the main shopping mall, while activities such as padel<\/a> will keep your juices flowing. Neighbouring Kenilworth<\/a> is also well worth checking out for things to do, with some of the restaurants being top notch.<\/p>\n

The accommodation I found is a cosy one-bed at R955 per night. While small, it really doesn’t matter, as the idea is for you to explore the world around you, remember. With off-street parking, a small kitchen to do your own cooking (I’d head to Kenilworth), and WiFi, this spot hits all the right notes.<\/p>\n

Cape Town’s Deep South

Do you like penguins? We like penguins! It’s a no-brainer then to check out Simon’s Town, which is home to\u00a0Boulders and its colony of African penguins<\/a>. Staying in the area also opens up trips to Cape Point and the stunning peninsula drive<\/a>. A short drive to Kalk Bay is also well worth your time – and you can read all about this stunning sea-side village here<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The place I found for you to stay at costs just R900 per night and is a short walk from the beach! You’ll have the entire unit to yourself, which comes with WiFi, a place to work for those who can’t switch off, and secure parking.<\/p>\n

Cape Town’s Northern Suburbs

Love your wine but want to stay a bit closer to Cape Town central than in the Winelands? Well, Durbanville ticks those boxes and then some with its own Winelands<\/a> – and you can even go on a Wine Safari<\/a>! It’s also great for golfers, with the Durbanville Golf Club<\/a> around the corner and the Tyger Valley Shopping Centre<\/a> just down the road.<\/p>\n

For when you need to catch some well-earned rest after a day of activities, this spot in Durbanville is perfect. For just over R800 per night, you’ll be greeted by a private entrance flatlet that prioritises comfort for its guests. WiFi, secure parking, and a homely environment await.<\/p>\n

Wine, wine, and more wine… splashed with a bit of history and some more wine. Paarl<\/a> is a charming place to visit for both locals and foreigners alike. Steeped in history and overflowing with amazing wine, a trip to Cape Town is not a trip to Cape Town without a visit to the Winelands<\/a>.<\/p>\n

As we all know, drinking and driving is never, ever a good thing, so staying over when visiting the Winelands is a must. This cosy spot in Paarl is perfect for quick getaways to the Winelands and has all you need to ensure your experience is matched with some great sleep. And for just R850 per night for a couple, it’s a no-brainer.<\/p>\n
