{"id":14926,"date":"2026-01-10T09:50:11","date_gmt":"2026-01-10T09:50:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/14926\/"},"modified":"2026-01-10T09:50:11","modified_gmt":"2026-01-10T09:50:11","slug":"eacc-raids-ngaaf-ceos-home-in-ksh1-billion-wealth-probe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/14926\/","title":{"rendered":"EACC Raids NGAAF CEO\u2019s Home in Ksh1 Billion Wealth Probe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has confirmed that it conducted a search operation at the residence and office of the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF) Chief Executive Officer on Thursday, January 8, over graft allegations.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The raid was part of an ongoing investigation into allegations of graft, procurement irregularities, and possession of unexplained wealth estimated at approximately Ksh1 billion.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The operation relates to allegations of graft, procurement irregularities, and the acquisition of unexplained wealth estimated at Ksh1 billion, allegedly accumulated between January 1, 2021, and January 8, 2026,&#8221; the commission said.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>During the operation, the commission revealed that it recovered critical evidentiary material believed to support its investigations into the alleged financial improprieties linked to the CEO\u2019s tenure at NGAAF.<\/p>\n<p>EACC CEO Abdi Mohamud during the launch of the Anti-Corruption Strategic Guiding Framework for Kenya\u2019s Justice Sector on March 25, 2025. <\/p>\n<p>Photo<\/p>\n<p>EACC<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kenyans.co.ke\/news\/117732-eacc-raids-homes-sports-ministry-officials-ksh-38b-graft-probe\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">probe also focuses on procurement irregularities<\/a> allegedly tied to his previous role as Head of Procurement at the Kenya Deposit Insurance Corporation (KDIC).<\/p>\n<p>He has previously held key positions, including Chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Council and Deputy Head of Procurement at the Competition Authority of Kenya.<\/p>\n<p>Following the raid, the EACC summoned the official to the Integrity Centre to record a statement regarding the allegations of unexplained wealth and potential corruption.<\/p>\n<p>The commission has indicated that the statement is part of ongoing investigations that will determine the next steps, which may include prosecution if sufficient evidence is found.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, any assets deemed to be linked to corruption or unexplained wealth may be subject to forfeiture under Kenyan law.<\/p>\n<p>The developments come nearly three months after the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kenyans.co.ke\/news\/117979-eacc-raids-home-arrests-anti-counterfeit-authority-chair-josphat-kabeabea-over-ksh15\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">commission arrested Josphat Kabeabea<\/a>, the former chair of the Anti-Counterfeit Authority&#8217;s Board of Directors, amid allegations that he demanded Ksh15 million in bribes in his capacity as the authority&#8217;s boss.<\/p>\n<p>The arrest occurred on Friday, November 14, following a raid on his home, where EACC revealed that Kabeabea had allegedly demanded a bribe of Ksh5 million on November 11 from a Chinese national, having previously accused the company of selling counterfeit goods.<\/p>\n<p>According to the EACC, Kabeabea allegedly threatened that failure to comply would result in the Chinese national being detained for selling counterfeit goods.<\/p>\n<p>Kabeabea had his initial demand for Ksh5 million bribe declined, according to EACC.
