Siaya Deputy
\nGovernor Dr. William Oduol has formally announced his intention to challenge his
\nboss Governor James Orengo for the county\u2019s top seat in the 2027 General Election.\n<\/p>\n

Speaking when he
\nhosted a fellowship with religious leaders from across Alego Usonga
\nconstituency at his rural residence in Hawinga village, Dr. Oduol revealed that
\nhe will seek the mandate on an ODM party ticket, setting the stage for a fierce
\ncontest that will begin at the party nomination level. <\/p>\n

The Deputy
\nGovernor, who has largely operated outside his office for the past three and a
\nhalf years following a fallout with Governor Orengo, accused the current
\nadministration of failing to deliver on its promises. He cited poor service
\ndelivery as the main reason behind his decision to run. <\/p>\n

\u201cI would like to
\nstate that today I have declared officially my candidacy for Governor of Siaya
\nCounty on an ODM ticket. I\u2019m presenting myself for nominations and thereafter
\noffer myself to contest against the rest of the other candidates. I\u2019m going to
\ncontest in the ODM nominations, hopefully with James Orengo, na mimi nangoja
\nyeye,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

Dr. Oduol further
\nclaimed that the manifesto they jointly presented to Siaya residents in 2022
\nhas been neglected. <\/p>\n

He insisted that
\nthe blueprint was his brainchild and vowed to implement it fully if elected
\ngovernor. <\/p>\n

He said that he
\nhad given his boss a room to implement the promises that they gave during the
\nlast campaigns but that did not come forth, a reason for which he now wants to
\nreturn to fulfill the dram that he had for Siaya County. <\/p>\n

\u201cThe manifesto
\nthat we have in Siaya County was largely my manifesto. I actually developed it,
\nand unfortunately that manifesto as not been implemented. I am therefore taking
\nthis opportunity and imploring and asking the rest of the citizenry and
\nresidents of Siaya County to elect me in 2027 so that the new Siaya dream can
\nbe actualized, and the 9-point agenda in the manifesto can be implemented,\u201d
\nsaid Dr. Oduol.<\/p>\n

The Deputy
\nGovernor stated that for Siaya to grow in terms of development, it requires an
\nadministrator and not an activist or legislator as the Chief Executive Officer
\nof the county. <\/p>\n

Dr. Oduol promised
\nto bring meaningful transformation in the management of Siaya County should he
\nbe elected the third Governor, noting that his focus will be on issues of
