THE deputy headmaster of Founders High School, Nkosana Mlibazi and Lazarus Moyo, a contractor, were recently convicted of defrauding US$600 Confederation of School Sport Associations of Southern Africa (COSSASA) Games funds.<\/p>\n

The pair appeared at Tredgold Magistrates Court charged alongside Lazaco Engineers (Pvt) Limited.<\/p>\n

Mlibazi and Moyo were each sentenced to eight months imprisonment of which two months were suspended for five years. A further two months were set aside on condition they pay US$200 fine and restitute US$200 each. The remaining four months were suspended on condition they perform 140 hours community service.<\/p>\n

Lazaco Engineers was fined US$200 and ordered to restitute US$200.<\/p>\n

The State case was that between August and September 2024, the school generated US$16,070 from hosting COSSASA Games and Mlibazi was entrusted with keeping the money.<\/p>\n

It was heard that the deputy headmaster connived with Moyo to divert US$600, and went on to fabricate quotations and receipts claiming that Lazaco Engineers had supplied materials and did repairs.<\/p>\n

Investigations proved no work was done, instead a caretaker independently purchased and installed equipment. A report was then lodged with school authorities who reported the matter to police leading to the pair\u2019s arrest.<\/p>\n
