Tragedy struck a village when a man killed his
\nwife before he died by suicide in Emitiot, Longisa, Bomet County.<\/p>\n
According to the police, Nicodemus Rotich, 33, was
\nfound dead with his body hanging from a tree in a thicket with a rope tied around
\nhis neck.<\/p>\n
It later emerged that he had killed his wife in
\ntheir house before he walked about two kilometres away where he hanged himself.<\/p>\n
The body of his wife identified as Jedida Rotich,
\n28, was found on the bed in the house minutes later after the Friday, January 9
\nincident. <\/p>\n
The body had head injuries.<\/p>\n
Their neighbours said the couple had quarrelled over
\nthe sale of a piece of land in the area.\u00a0The bodies were moved to the mortuary pending an
\nautopsy and other procedures, police said.<\/p>\n
Police say suicide is among the leading causes of deaths in
\nthe country.<\/p>\n
\nElsewhere in Mukurweini, Nyeri County, a woman was
\nfound dead after a suspected murder.<\/p>\n
She was identified as Mary Wangari Wanjau. She was
\n85, locals said.\u00a0The incident happened in a house in Karia village
\nwhere she had been living alone.<\/p>\n
Police said the body was found lying on the floor
\nin a pool of blood inside her two-bedroom permanent house.<\/p>\n
Police said she had signs of a back head injury and
\nthat a blood-stained wood believed to be the murder weapon was recovered from
\nthe scene and kept as an exhibit.<\/p>\n
The body was moved to Mukurweini subcounty hospital
\nmortuary awaiting autopsy.<\/p>\n
In Muungano, Machakos County, a man\u2019s attempt to
\nsave a woman from a violent husband turned tragic when he was hit on the head
\nand died.<\/p>\n
A woman who was on the run from her violent
\nhusband had reportedly escaped from her house to that of the neighbour seeking
\nrefuge.
\nThis followed a quarrel.<\/p>\n
The husband followed her to the house, prompting
\nthe owner of the home to intervene.<\/p>\n
This angered the husband, who started a fight with
\nthe man. It was then that Philemon Ooko was hit in the head and fell fatally.<\/p>\n
He was rushed to the hospital where he was
\npronounced dead on arrival, police said of the Friday incident.<\/p>\n
The assailant escaped the scene as police visited
\nthere for investigations.<\/p>\n
Police said the body had bruises on the head and
\nblood was oozing from his mouth and nose.<\/p>\n
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an
