{"id":17061,"date":"2026-01-11T12:58:17","date_gmt":"2026-01-11T12:58:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/17061\/"},"modified":"2026-01-11T12:58:17","modified_gmt":"2026-01-11T12:58:17","slug":"youth-empowerment-ministry-hosting-fundraising-lunch-for-pembina-valley-and-uganda-communities-pembinavalleyonline-com-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/17061\/","title":{"rendered":"Youth empowerment ministry hosting fundraising lunch for Pembina Valley and Uganda communities &#8211; PembinaValleyOnline.com"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nixon\u00a0and Chasity\u00a0Katabira\u00a0are the\u00a0co-founders of\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.loveallministries.org\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Love All Ministries\u00a0Uganda|Canada<\/a>,\u00a0a youth empowerment ministry started in Uganda around 2012.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Their mission\u00a0is to love, disciple, and empower young people in all aspects of life.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur\u00a0goal is to be the church beyond\u00a0worlds.\u201d Nixon explained.\u00a0\u201cWe\u00a0don&#8217;t\u00a0want to be tied\u00a0in\u00a0the church.\u00a0We give this\u00a0example,\u00a0when\u00a0I have my vehicle and I take it to the garage for service, I\u00a0don&#8217;t\u00a0drive it in the garage.\u00a0It\u00a0has\u00a0to\u00a0go back on\u00a0the road\u00a0to\u00a0do the work. We are called to reach out. We are called to be the church, the\u00a0light\u00a0and the salt in the world. So\u00a0that&#8217;s\u00a0our major goal.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The ministry grew from a relationship that began\u00a0after the\u00a0two\u00a0met\u00a0in Africa.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>A chance meeting<\/p>\n<p>Chasity\u00a0recalled the circumstances\u00a0leading up to\u00a0the\u00a0union\u00a0between\u00a0her and Nixon.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis goes so far back, but I think the Lord\u00a0from\u00a0young\u00a0put our hearts\u00a0on\u00a0the youth of Africa, especially.\u00a0That&#8217;s\u00a0how we met.\u00a0We were both working with Youth\u00a0With\u00a0A\u00a0Mission (YWAM).\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Love All Ministries Uganda|Canada, youth -photo from LAMUC website\" data-caption=\"Love All Ministries Uganda|Canada, youth - photo from LAMUC website\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"2157dec1-04b9-4733-a857-ea1b55622e45\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1768136297_70_Love All Ministries Uganda Canada Youth -from website.jpg\"\/>Love All Ministries Uganda|Canada, youth &#8211; photo from LAMUC website<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u00a0was doing an outreach in Congo, DR\u00a0of\u00a0Congo\u00a0&#8211;\u00a0training\u00a0pastors\u00a0and church leaders deep in the village.\u00a0We\u00a0weren&#8217;t\u00a0even supposed to go to Uganda, but my leaders decided, okay, why\u00a0don&#8217;t\u00a0we\u00a0extend\u00a0a week? Do you want to extend a week in Uganda, they asked?\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chasity explained that she\u00a0was single\u00a0at the\u00a0time\u00a0so\u00a0she decided,\u00a0why not?\u00a0That&#8217;s\u00a0when\u00a0she\u00a0met Nixon, getting\u00a0to know\u00a0him\u00a0over the course\u00a0of\u00a0that week.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Love connects amongst shared mission<\/p>\n<p>Nixon\u00a0continued the story of\u00a0their\u00a0meeting.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor me, I think even when we met, it was not like, oh,\u00a0you&#8217;re\u00a0so beautiful, or you have blue eyes, it\u00a0wasn&#8217;t\u00a0that. It was like, what do you do? After doing my discipleship\u00a0training,\u00a0my\u00a0leader,\u00a0was supposed to join\u00a0us. He was supposed to be the translator to join them, but that time he\u00a0didn&#8217;t\u00a0go,\u00a0so\u00a0maybe I\u00a0would\u00a0have not\u00a0seen her.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey had come to report back what had gone on in Congo. I was already working and pastoring young people\u00a0at\u00a0Discovery\u00a0Center,\u00a0in Wyoming.\u00a0When Charles came, I\u00a0was in charge of\u00a0the staff house and then I\u00a0located\u00a0them,\u00a0where they were supposed to stay.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nixon\u00a0expanded more on\u00a0the week that\u00a0unfolded\u00a0for the two.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0\u201cThat week, we talked, and the way we talked were like, I had a small studio, and then Chas was asking, so you have a studio.\u00a0I&#8217;m\u00a0like,\u00a0yeah, I have a recording studio. Eventually she asked me,\u00a0what\u00a0do you do?\u00a0She had already seen what I was doing.\u00a0That&#8217;s\u00a0when she told me, oh, I work with pastors in Congo. And then I\u00a0asked,\u00a0what\u00a0is your dream?\u00a0She told me that her\u00a0dream\u00a0was\u00a0working\u00a0with\u00a0young\u00a0people.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt\u00a0that time, Laval Ministries\u00a0was\u00a0already brewing.\u00a0That&#8217;s\u00a0the\u00a0reason why\u00a0I went to YWAM, to be trained to come back\u00a0to\u00a0my home community to serve.\u00a0After we talked, I\u00a0wondered, is she the lady? Because my prayer was, God, if\u00a0you&#8217;ve\u00a0called me this way, I need a partner who is going to walk the same journey.\u00a0That was my prayer. And eventually, we started talking and the friendship grew.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Chasity and Nixon Katabira\" data-caption=\"Chasity and Nixon Katabira\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"3d1095c3-1cdd-4e80-ae9e-a4e734e5559f\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1768136297_220_Chasity and Nixon Katabira PVOL.jpg\"\/>Chasity and Nixon Katabira<\/p>\n<p>The pair\u00a0have\u00a0done ministry\u00a0in Uganda and\u00a0in the Pembina Valley.\u00a0Chasity shared her\u00a0favorite part about what\u00a0they\u00a0get\u00a0to do.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think\u00a0it&#8217;s\u00a0just like seeing the impacts.\u00a0When people get to know\u00a0truth, when people are empowered with skills, when they get these things, it just brings a whole new life and purpose\u00a0to them.\u00a0We&#8217;ve\u00a0seen it countless\u00a0times,\u00a0it&#8217;s\u00a0just been so awesome.\u00a0That&#8217;s\u00a0what makes us go through the challenges, just to see that.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Inspiration from action<\/p>\n<p>Nixon added a story of one such experience.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis young man came to\u00a0the youth center when we had just started.\u00a0He had\u00a0totally\u00a0lost hope. He\u00a0had\u00a0an\u00a0incurable\u00a0illness. He had given up and\u00a0he&#8217;s\u00a0like, you know what? Even when I try,\u00a0I&#8217;m\u00a0going to die. Why should I even\u00a0try?\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u00a0didn&#8217;t\u00a0have school fees, he had\u00a0dropped out of school. So\u00a0seeing him, seeing the progress when God is\u00a0actually working\u00a0in his life,\u00a0every time we talked, every time\u00a0you speak the same thing, you go to the roots where he came.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOf course, you will know that the disease could not be\u00a0healed.\u201d Nixon said.\u00a0\u201cBut today,\u00a0he\u2019s\u00a0very healthy, and honestly,\u00a0he&#8217;s\u00a0even actually believing that\u00a0he&#8217;s\u00a0going to be healed, because right now, if you\u00a0looked\u00a0at him, you may not even think that\u00a0he&#8217;s\u00a0sick. He has started his own business. He has a boutique, and he works. He built his own home.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGod has really raised him now. Seeing\u00a0his\u00a0life, you reach a point and be like, man,\u00a0it&#8217;s\u00a0worthy\u00a0doing this.\u00a0This is one of the stories, there are\u00a0so\u00a0many\u00a0more.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Related stories:<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" alt=\"Chasity and Nixon Katabira with family - photo from Facebook\" data-caption=\"Nixon and Chasity Katabira with family - photo from Facebook\" data-entity-type=\"file\" data-entity-uuid=\"1b4ce4ef-0eb7-498b-a914-a0707655c3ca\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1768136297_805_Love All FB.jpg\"\/>Nixon and Chasity Katabira with family &#8211; photo from Facebook<\/p>\n<p>The\u00a0Katabiras intend to continue working towards similar heartwarming stories of recovery, and in that\u00a0effort\u00a0Love All Ministries\u00a0Uganda|Canada\u00a0is\u00a0hosting\u00a0a\u00a0fundraising lunch; a community meal bringing\u00a0together\u00a0connection\u00a0as well as comfort.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Ministry works to build connection<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn the\u00a0Pembina\u00a0Valley, we\u00a0basically work\u00a0with the\u00a0community We see the need in building tangible relationships.\u201d Nixon explained.\u00a0\u201cOne of the challenges that we see, and I\u00a0don&#8217;t\u00a0know whether\u00a0it&#8217;s\u00a0really spoken so much, is\u00a0the loneliness.\u00a0So\u00a0we were asking God, how can we reach out to people and build tangible relationships?\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe started a food ministry, and this food ministry is\u00a0basically to\u00a0build\u00a0relationship, but also\u00a0for\u00a0those who\u00a0really need\u00a0to\u00a0have a meal.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>What better way to\u00a0connect\u00a0people than\u00a0with food?\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Nixon further explained the fundraiser.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBasically,\u00a0it&#8217;s\u00a0divided into three. We have the meal share, the\u00a0open door\u00a0dinner table, and then the village.\u00a0We ran one last year at\u00a0Bergthaler\u00a0Mennonite Church.\u00a0People turned up, which was good. That was the village.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe idea is it takes a village to build a community. It takes a village to\u00a0maintain\u00a0the values. It takes a village to care for one another.\u00a0So\u00a0basically,\u00a0village\u00a0means the community.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Welcome one and all<\/p>\n<p>Nixon outlined\u00a0who will be welcome to attend.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBasically\u00a0we prepare a meal, and then invite people. We invite the people who struggling, but\u00a0also\u00a0we invite whoever can come. Also\u00a0Christians, the body of Christ who can come.\u00a0So\u00a0when we\u00a0meet together, we have a meal, we\u00a0are connecting\u00a0to one another\u00a0and also\u00a0have a chat about the importance of a community, the importance of relationships.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Chasity\u00a0talked further\u00a0of\u00a0the community aspect of the lunch.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOne thing that I have found here is,\u00a0there&#8217;s\u00a0a lot of tight-knit family groups, people\u00a0have deep roots here, but you get a lot of new people coming in as well who find it harder to break through those circles.\u00a0They struggle.\u00a0So\u00a0we want to find ways of pulling them in and connecting them to individuals who\u00a0maybe\u00a0wouldn&#8217;t\u00a0meet these people in their normal day-to-day life.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The fundraising lunch runs Sunday,\u00a0Jan 11th, at Bethel\u00a0Bergthaler\u00a0Church, in Hochfeld\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u00a0are going to\u00a0be having\u00a0a taco lunch.\u201d Chasity explained.\u00a0\u201cThese are going to be amazing tacos.\u00a0They&#8217;re\u00a0not your average\u00a0tacos\u00a0here. They are going to be\u00a0delicious and\u00a0made with\u00a0love\u00a0too.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are welcoming people to come and\u00a0there\u00a0will\u00a0be gluten-free options as well.\u00a0Those who are concerned about\u00a0that, there\u00a0will be\u00a0a\u00a0provision\u00a0for that.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The lunch\u00a0is by donation and starts after\u00a0the service.\u00a0As long as\u00a0food is there,\u00a0they\u00a0will be\u00a0serving.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The funds are to be split between the local community, and the Uganda ministry.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhen you donate, the money goes to, firstly, within this community helps us to reach out with the food ministry.\u201d Nixon said.\u00a0\u201cBut also in Uganda, there&#8217;s kids that we sponsor\u00a0and\u00a0we are\u00a0also\u00a0running two youth centres\u00a0there.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Uganda mission faces obstacles<\/p>\n<p>The Uganda\u00a0centres\u00a0bring unique challenges.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe places we work in are\u00a0kind of a\u00a0slum area. When you Google,\u00a0you&#8217;ll\u00a0see that.\u201d Nixon\u00a0shared.\u00a0\u201cSo\u00a0you find young people or families that cannot even afford a meal or two meals\u00a0a\u00a0day.\u00a0Basically, when\u00a0we meet young people in our daily programs, we provide something to eat before they leave. and all that costs money.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe\u00a0staff\u00a0that we work\u00a0with,\u00a0maintaining\u00a0paying bills and all\u00a0that, it\u00a0takes money.\u00a0So\u00a0when people come to support us, they know that they are reaching out.\u00a0there\u00a0are people who ask, how can I really serve? I would love to be a blessing to someone. Hey, this is the opportunity for someone to be a blessing and know that when\u00a0I&#8217;ve\u00a0given my money,\u00a0it&#8217;s\u00a0actually\u00a0I&#8217;m\u00a0reaching out to someone else.
