Accra, Jan.11, GNA-Ghana Skate has clinched a historic berth at the inaugural International\u00a0Francophonie Skate Youth Championship in Cotonou, Benin. \u00a0<\/p>\n
The competition, which featured some top skating talents across the continent, serves as a key\u00a0preparatory event ahead of the Youth Olympic Games later this year.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Ghana\u2019s delegation, led by Mr. Johnson Kwaku Gameli Kportufe, President of Ghana Skate,\u00a0alongside Mr. Prosper Ashiquaye Doku, the General Secretary, Mr. Joshua Odamtten,\u00a0Commission Chairman for Skateboarding in Ghana with athletes Cornelius and Tracy who are\u00a0eyeing for a podium finish. \u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n
The Championship also offers skaters a valuable platform to gain international exposure,\u00a0enhance their competitive experience, and engage with peers and stakeholders within the global\u00a0skateboarding community.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Mr. Gameli Kportufe in a statement copied to the Ghana News Agency described the team\u2019s\u00a0participation as a stepping stone towards greater achievements in the future.\u00a0<\/p>\n
\u201cWe are immensely proud of Cornelius and Tracy for the efforts and hard work they have put\u00a0into representing our country with their dedication to skateboarding. Their participation is\u00a0expected to inspire a new generation of young Ghanaians to embrace skateboarding and\u00a0contribute to the sport\u2019s continued growth,\u201d he added. \u00a0<\/p>\n
He further extended appreciation to the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, National Sports\u00a0Authority and various stakeholders for supporting the team\u2019s participation. \u00a0<\/p>\n
In line with efforts to make the competition a success, a coaching and officiating development\u00a0programme was held, offering specialized training and certification courses for commission\u00a0heads, coaches, and technical officials.\u00a0<\/p>\n
