{"id":178513,"date":"2026-04-09T04:02:19","date_gmt":"2026-04-09T04:02:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/178513\/"},"modified":"2026-04-09T04:02:19","modified_gmt":"2026-04-09T04:02:19","slug":"fnb-backs-r800m-durban-north-coastal-development","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/178513\/","title":{"rendered":"FNB backs R800m Durban North coastal development"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">FNB and Beachwood Investments have sealed an R800m funding deal to fast-track the Beachwood Coastal Estate, a premium beachfront development in Durban North. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The project is expected to revitalise the local property market, generate hundreds of construction jobs and permanent jobs, and stimulate economic activity across the Durban North area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The development will include freehold stands ranging from R8m to R21m, apartments from R8m to R16m, and duplexes and villas from R18m to R25m, FNB said in a statement. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">FNB Commercial Property Finance CEO Preggie Pillay, said, \u201cThis is the first Shari\u2019ah-compliant residential development funding deal to be concluded within the FirstRand group, which demonstrates our continued innovation and appetite for lending to meet customer needs and to further contribute to boosting economic activity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">According to Rainmaker Marketing\u2019s North Coast Property Market Report, nearly 60% of relocations to the Greater North Coast come from within KwaZulu\u2011Natal, while just 11% originate from Gauteng, highlighting strong local demand for coastal living. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The estate includes a 9\u2011hole, 18\u2011tee golf course connecting to the Beachwood Mangrove Nature Reserve, along with wellness and health centres, 8\u202fkm of walking and cycling paths, a restaurant, function and co\u2011working spaces, a garden centre, indoor pool and braai area.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">Apartments of the development will range from 246\u202fm\u00b2 to 400\u202fm\u00b2, with vacant stands sized between 800m\u00b2 and 1,200m\u00b2.
