Police
\nare investigating an incident where three family
\nmembers were killed in a fire in Kapnandet village, Belgut Constituency,
\nKericho County.<\/p>\n
\nAccording to the villagers, the trio- an
\n80-year-old woman, her 52-year-old daughter and their 19-year-old house help
\nwere sleeping in their bedrooms when the incident happened on Friday.<\/p>\n
\nVillagers pointed out that the family members
\nwere awoken by a loud blast from a cooking gas which emanated from the kitchen
\nof the four-bedroomed bungalow and when they went to check, they discovered
\nthat the house had been engulfed by the fire.<\/p>\n
\nThey raised an alarm, which attracted the
\nattention of the other villagers and the public who rushed to the
\nscene and attempted to put out the inferno.<\/p>\n
\nHowever, they were overwhelmed by the intensity
\nof the fire, which spread rapidly and, within a short time, engulfed the entire
\nhouse.<\/p>\n
\nThe fire brigade from the county government of
\nKericho later arrived at the scene and assisted in extinguishing the fire.<\/p>\n
\nThe bodies were moved to the mortuary pending an
\nautopsy and other procedures.
\nPolice said they want to establish the cause of
\nthe fire as part of the probe into the incident.<\/p>\n
Elsewhere, a 66-year-old was found murdered in his bed after
\nsuspected murder in a village in Samburu, Kwale County.<\/p>\n
Police said Nzole Mumba Chileta was found dead in
\nhis house after he had been attacked by unknown assailants. The motive was not
\nimmediately known.<\/p>\n
The deceased lived alone.\u00a0The body lay in a pool of blood with injuries on
\nhis throat, head, shoulder and ribs.<\/p>\n
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an
\nautopsy.\u00a0In Bahati, Nakuru County, a guard was killed in a
\nrobbery on a farm, police said.<\/p>\n
The murder happened at Morop Farm.\u00a0A gang raided the farm and stole a transformer.<\/p>\n
One Paul Ekidor, 57 who was a guard at the farm
\nwas killed.\u00a0He was found lying in a pool of blood with the
\nlegs and hands tied with a nylon rope.<\/p>\n
Two other guards were injured in the attack and
\ntaken to hospital in a serious condition.<\/p>\n
The body was moved to the mortuary pending an
\nautopsy, police said. Police said they are pursuing the gang behind the murder.
\nPolice say murder incidents have been on the rise
\namid efforts to solve them.<\/p>\n
Up to eight murder incidents are reported daily in
