{"id":18216,"date":"2026-01-12T06:49:20","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T06:49:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/18216\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T06:49:20","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T06:49:20","slug":"businessman-robbed-sh900000-in-narok-town","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/18216\/","title":{"rendered":"Businessman robbed Sh900,000 in Narok Town"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/e8fea4d3-a423-4009-903a-5a9ce7ad9bf1.jpg\" class=\"ui-draggable ui-draggable-handle\" style=\"max-width: 100%; width: 100%;\"\/>Crime scene<\/p>\n<p>Police are investigating an incident where a&#13;<br \/>\nbusinessman was robbed of Sh900,000 in Narok Town.<\/p>\n<p>This&#13;<br \/>\nwas the second such incident to be reported over the weekend, prompting police&#13;<br \/>\noperations targeting the gangs behind the same.<\/p>\n<p>Another&#13;<br \/>\nbusinessman was robbed of Sh835,000 after he had left two different banks in&#13;<br \/>\nNyali, Mombasa County.<\/p>\n<p>The thieves broke into the cars of the victims and&#13;<br \/>\ngrabbed the cash after trailing them.<\/p>\n<p>In&#13;<br \/>\nthe first incident, the victim told police he had travelled from Nairobi to Narok, where he had a construction project, while carrying the money in a brown&#13;<br \/>\nenvelope. He had withdrawn the money from a bank in Nairobi.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nThe&#13;<br \/>\nincident happened on Friday afternoon.&#13;<br \/>\nOn&#13;<br \/>\nreaching Narok Town, he parked his Probox car in the Muthurwa area and walked&#13;<br \/>\nto the site.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nHe&#13;<br \/>\ncame back about 30 minutes later and found his car had been broken into, and the&#13;<br \/>\nenvelope which had the cash and a mobile phone was missing.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nPolice&#13;<br \/>\nwere informed and visited the scene as part of the investigation into the&#13;<br \/>\nincident. Police suspect the thieves had prior information on the movement of&#13;<br \/>\nthe cash. A hunt for the gang continued on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nPolice&#13;<br \/>\nvisited premises near the site to review security cameras to see if they could&#13;<br \/>\nidentify the suspects behind the incident.&#13;<br \/>\nIn&#13;<br \/>\nthe Nyali incident, police said the gang trailed the victim from two different banks&#13;<br \/>\nwhere he withdrew money.<\/p>\n<p>He&#13;<br \/>\nfirst withdrew\u00a0Sh635,000 from one of the\u00a0banks and Sh200,000 from&#13;<br \/>\nanother.<\/p>\n<p>He&#13;<br \/>\ntold police the robbery happened on January 10 at a premise at about 1 pm. He&#13;<br \/>\nhad been to two banks for the money. <\/p>\n<p>The thieves are believed to have trailed&#13;<br \/>\nhim from the banks to the scene where he had parked his car and left for&#13;<br \/>\nerrands. They then broke into the car and grabbed the cash before escaping.<\/p>\n<p>Police said they are investigating the incident and&#13;<br \/>\nthat they were reviewing security footage that may have captured the crime.<\/p>\n<p>Most&#13;<br \/>\nof such incidents happen out of an inside job, police investigations show. Police said&#13;<br \/>\non Monday they were pursuing good leads into the incidents.<\/p>\n<p>Elsewhere&#13;<br \/>\nin Ganjoni, Mombasa County, a woman lost Sh600,000 and jewellery in a housebreaking incident. The woman told police she had left for work and left her&#13;<br \/>\nhouse locked.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nShe&#13;<br \/>\ncame back and found the house broken into and the Sh600,000 in cash, with&#13;<br \/>\njewellery valued at Sh500,000 missing.<\/p>\n<p>&#13;<br \/>\nPolice&#13;<br \/>\nvisited the scene and announced investigations were ongoing to establish what&#13;<br \/>\nhappened.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"Crime scene Police are investigating an incident where a&#13; businessman was robbed of Sh900,000 in Narok Town.
