The Kisumu County
\nGovernment has announced arrangements to repatriate the body of Dr. George Rae,
\na senior health advisor to Governor Anyang\u2019 Nyong\u2019o, who died in Seoul, South
\nKorea, on December 26, 2025.<\/p>\n

In a statement
\nissued on Friday, the county said it continues to mourn Dr. Rae and stands in
\nsolidarity with his family following what it described as an untimely death.<\/p>\n

Dr. Rae is the former Jaramogi Oginga Teaching and Referral Hospital (JOOTRH) Chief Executive Officer and, until his demise, served as a key advisor to Governor Nyong\u2019o on health and medical
\nmatters, while also playing a central role in mobilising resources to support
\nKisumu County\u2019s health sector. <\/p>\n

The county
\ngovernment described his contribution to public service and healthcare
\ndevelopment in Kisumu and across Kenya as \u201cprofound and invaluable\u201d.<\/p>\n

The county further
\nconfirmed that it has settled all hospital bills incurred in South Korea
\namounting to KRW 59.003 million (approx. Ksh.5.2 million), in addition to a
\nmortuary bill of KRW 672,000 (approx. Ksh.60,000). It has also fully covered
\nthe cost of transporting Dr. Rae\u2019s body from Seoul to Kenya.<\/p>\n

According to the
\nstatement, the body of the late Dr. Rae will depart Seoul on Monday, January 5,
\n2026, at 11pm Korean time aboard an Emirates Airlines flight via Dubai. <\/p>\n

It is expected to
\narrive in Nairobi on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, on Emirates Flight EK 719.<\/p>\n

Following
\nconsultations with the family, the county said the body will be received and
\nheld in Nairobi as burial arrangements are finalised and the funeral date
\ncommunicated in due course.<\/p>\n

\nGovernor, Prof. Peter Anyang’ Nyong’o, EGH, on his own behalf and on behalf of
\nthe County Government of Kisumu, once again conveys his deepest condolences to
\nthe family, friends, colleagues, and all those whose lives were touched by the
\nservice and legacy of Dr. George Rae. He assures them of the County
