{"id":185437,"date":"2026-04-13T10:00:09","date_gmt":"2026-04-13T10:00:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/185437\/"},"modified":"2026-04-13T10:00:09","modified_gmt":"2026-04-13T10:00:09","slug":"ibadan-indigenes-warn-fayose-over-olubadan-removal-plot","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/185437\/","title":{"rendered":"Ibadan Indigenes Warn Fayose Over Olubadan Removal Plot"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"0\" data-end=\"312\">The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes, on Sunday, came down on former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, over his comments alleging a plot by Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde, to remove the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja.\n<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"314\" data-end=\"657\">CCII President-General, Ajeniyi Ajewole, who made this known in a statement released by the council\u2019s Publicity Secretary, Kola Olomide, in Ibadan, the state capital, said Fayose\u2019s comments were not only misleading but also a dangerous attempt to politicise traditional institutions in the state.\n<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"659\" data-end=\"871\">It will be recalled that Fayose had on Sunday on his X handle, claimed that Governor Makinde was planning to depose the Olubadan, Oba Ladoja, a statement that has triggered strong reactions from stakeholders in the state.\n<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"873\" data-end=\"1023\">He wrote: \u201cI heard reliably that Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State is plotting the removal of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1025\" data-end=\"1231\">\u201cThe plot is to commence this week, with a government query to be issued against the Olubadan, citing his absence at the failed coronation of High Chiefs in Ibadanland two weeks ago, and other allegations.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1233\" data-end=\"1353\">The CCII described the former governor\u2019s remarks as unfounded, provocative and capable of inciting unrest in Ibadanland.\n<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1355\" data-end=\"1508\">The statement quoted the CCII President-General, Ajeniyi Ajewole, as expressing deep concern over what he termed reckless interference in Ibadan affairs.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1510\" data-end=\"1636\">Ajewole warned that Fayose\u2019s remarks could create unnecessary tension in a city known for its respect for tradition and order.\n<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1638\" data-end=\"1823\">\u201cIbadanland would not tolerate external attempts to destabilise its peace through careless political rhetoric. The allegation lacked credibility and should be disregarded by the public.\n<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1825\" data-end=\"1948\">\u201cMatters relating to the Olubadan stool follow a well-established process that cannot be altered by political speculation.\u201d <\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1950\" data-end=\"2078\">He, therefore, cautioned Fayose against making statements capable of misleading the public or creating distrust among residents.\n<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2080\" data-end=\"2330\">\u201cFayose should not inflame the polity in Ibadan and the state in general with reckless and unverified statements. We advise him to keep his mouth shut and take his divisive politics elsewhere rather than dragging Ibadan into unnecessary controversy.\u201d\n<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2332\" data-end=\"2499\">Ajewole further described Fayose\u2019s intervention as unwarranted, insisting that the former governor had no role in the traditional or political structure of Ibadanland.\n<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"2501\" data-end=\"2743\">\u201cOur own Governor Makinde is a true son of Ibadanland who would not do anything to undermine the institution of Olubadan.
