A former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party.\n<\/p>\n
Mimiko disclosed this in a letter addressed to the party chairman in Ward 7, Ondo West Local Government Area of Ondo State and sighted by PUNCH Online on Thursday.\n<\/p>\n
The former governor, who served between 2009 and 2016, said his resignation took effect from April 10, 2026.\n<\/p>\n
\u201cI am tendering my resignation from the People\u2019s Democratic Party, effective from April 10, 2026,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
He said the decision became necessary following speculations about his membership status. <\/p>\n
\u201cSpeculations and inquiries about my membership status have made it necessary for me to clarify my position.\n<\/p>\n
\u201cAs I have been somewhat distanced from party activities, I wish to put it on record that I am no longer a member of the PDP,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n
He said the decision was taken without animosity towards anyone.\n<\/p>\n
Mimiko has largely stayed away from active partisan politics in recent years.\n <\/p>\n
