{"id":19254,"date":"2026-01-12T17:47:13","date_gmt":"2026-01-12T17:47:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/19254\/"},"modified":"2026-01-12T17:47:13","modified_gmt":"2026-01-12T17:47:13","slug":"i-have-seen-the-light-says-economist-mugano-as-he-dumps-opposition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/19254\/","title":{"rendered":"I have seen the light &#8211; says economist Mugano as he dumps opposition\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>ECONOMIST, Gift Mugano, has ditched the opposition in support of the government in what he has described as a Damascene moment for him.<\/p>\n<p>Once a government critic and its policies, Mugano has in recent times been showering praises on Minister of Finance, Mthuli Ncube and the Mutapa Investment Fund Chief Executive Officer John Mangudya.<\/p>\n<p>His sudden turn of stance had prompted criticism from opposition figures questioning Mugano\u2019s sudden praise of \u201ceconomic progress\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsolicitors.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1768240031_628_cb-900x80-1.gif\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Quoting biblical figures, Mugano said he is lending the government support after witnessing the success of its economic policies.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis statement is motivated by incessant questions raised by the public in recent weeks regarding my recent remarks towards economic progress made by the Government of Zimbabwe. I thought that I must set the record straight on where I stand by penning this statement.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI know that more questions and attacks will come. I will not pen any statement on the same in the future. My actions will speak louder than words,\u201d said Mugano.<\/p>\n<p>He added: \u201cI am not anyway near Daniel and Joseph from spiritual perspective but my actions are inspired and modelled around how these great men of God worked with their respective governments.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cForget about what I said during my Saul moment. I had my Damascus moment \u2013 a point of reflection and soul searching. I am new. I am now Paul.
