12-16 January in a mission aimed at strengthening national efforts to advance gender equality.<\/p>\n<p>She will be accompanied by Adama Moussa, UN Women\u2019s Deputy Regional Director for East and Southern Africa.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsolicitors.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1768254491_923_cb-900x80-1.gif\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>UN Women says the mission is intended to reaffirm its commitment to Zimbabwe, deepen partnerships with government and civil society, and mobilise support to sustain progress on women\u2019s rights.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis strategic engagement aims to reaffirm UN Women\u2019s commitment to Zimbabwe, strengthen partnerships and mobilise collective action to safeguard and advance progress on gender equality and women\u2019s empowerment,\u201d the UN agency said on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>During the five\u2011day engagement, Gumbonzvanda will push for stronger integration of global gender frameworks \u2014 including CEDAW, the Beijing Platform for Action and Sustainable Development Goal 5 \u2014 into national policy.<\/p>\n<p>The mission will also focus on improving coordination across UN agencies, aligning UN Women\u2019s programming with Zimbabwe\u2019s priorities, and identifying opportunities for joint initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>UN Women expects the visit to help secure renewed government commitments, sharpen priorities for scaling interventions, and strengthen donor engagement.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC-rkC3XIvlRj0phdAoZuE2Q\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1768254492_69_destiny-720x180-2.gif\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A joint press briefing with the UN Resident Coordinator is scheduled for Friday to outline key outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>Zimbabwe has made notable policy advances in recent years, including the National Gender Policy (2025), the GBV Strategy (2023\u20132030) and the Marriages Act (2022).<\/p>\n<p>However, gaps remain in women\u2019s political participation, economic empowerment and the national response to gender\u2011based violence.<\/p>\n<p>UN Women\u2019s country programme \u2013 operating with a projected US$2.8 million budget for 2026 \u2013 focuses on ending violence against women, expanding women\u2019s leadership, boosting economic opportunities and supporting peace and security initiatives.<\/p>\n<p>The mission underscores the UN\u2019s support for Zimbabwe\u2019s Vision 2030 and its broader push to accelerate progress toward the Sustainable
