{"id":20140,"date":"2026-01-13T06:15:10","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T06:15:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/20140\/"},"modified":"2026-01-13T06:15:10","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T06:15:10","slug":"minister-chadzamira-puts-chief-murinye-in-his-place-over-riverton-academy-dispute-says-schools-paperwork-is-in-order","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/20140\/","title":{"rendered":"Minister Chadzamira puts Chief Murinye in his place over Riverton Academy dispute\u00a0&#8211; says school&#8217;s paperwork is in order"},"content":{"rendered":"<p data-start=\"124\" data-end=\"312\">Minister of State for Masvingo Provincial Affairs Ezra Chadzamira has halted Chief Murinye\u2019s attempts to disrupt the operations of Riverton Academy Extension (Murinye) amid a land dispute.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"314\" data-end=\"515\">The school is at the centre of a disagreement between Chief Murinye and its owner, Philemon Mutangiri, with the traditional leader accusing Mutangiri of constructing the institution on unapproved grazing land.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"517\" data-end=\"635\">Chief Murinye has described the construction of the school as illegal, alleging that it lacks the necessary paperwork.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbsolicitors.co.uk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1768284909_812_cb-900x80-1.gif\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"637\" data-end=\"836\">Following a meeting, during which Chief Murinye reportedly stormed out, Chadzamira said the correct legal channels had been followed, although construction had begun before the paperwork was completed.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"838\" data-end=\"993\">\u201cWe do not encourage illegal work. As a province, we follow the legal procedures of the government and the development that is encouraged by the President.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"995\" data-end=\"1160\">\u201cThe paperwork is in order. The applications and the approval are there. It is just that the construction of the school has preceded the paperwork,\u201d said Chadzamira.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1162\" data-end=\"1288\">Chief Murinye\u2019s main contention is that there were underhanded activities that allowed the school to be built on grazing land.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1290\" data-end=\"1471\">However, Mutangiri has denied the allegations, citing a reported agreement between the two parties that involved the installation of a US$7,000 transformer at the chief\u2019s homestead.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/channel\/UC-rkC3XIvlRj0phdAoZuE2Q\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/1768284909_384_destiny-720x180-2.gif\"\/><\/a><\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1473\" data-end=\"1653\">Chadzamira said Riverton Academy Extension (Murinye) is permitted to operate as a satellite school while the outstanding paperwork is being finalised with the relevant authorities.<\/p>\n<p data-start=\"1655\" data-end=\"1884\">\u201cStudents are at the school.
