{"id":20530,"date":"2026-01-13T10:38:19","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T10:38:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/20530\/"},"modified":"2026-01-13T10:38:19","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T10:38:19","slug":"ruto-to-launch-nyota-programme-in-samburu","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/20530\/","title":{"rendered":"Ruto to launch NYOTA programme in Samburu"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/9ace736f-3531-45a9-8b71-2870aa2bfe3f.jpeg\" class=\"ui-draggable ui-draggable-handle\" style=\"max-width: 100%; width: 100%;\"\/>On the Radar<\/p>\n<p>President William Ruto will today roll out the NYOTA Project&#13;<br \/>\n(National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement) programme in Samburu County.<\/p>\n<p>Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, senior government&#13;<br \/>\nofficials and lawmakers will accompany Ruto<\/p>\n<p>Nyota is designed to provide seed capital to young&#13;<br \/>\nentrepreneurs, enabling them to start or expand businesses while supporting job&#13;<br \/>\ncreation at the grassroots level.<\/p>\n<p>The government on Monday disbursed Sh173.2 million to&#13;<br \/>\nstartups under Nyota in Central Kenya.<\/p>\n<p>The funding targets 6,982 entrepreneurs across Nyeri,&#13;<br \/>\nMurang\u2019a, Nyandarua and Kirinyaga counties under the five-year programme&#13;<br \/>\nsupported by the World Bank.<\/p>\n<p>The funds were handed over during an event at the Kabiru-ini&#13;<br \/>\nASK Grounds in Nyeri, attended by Ruto. <\/p>\n<p>The President said the programme is based on merit and not&#13;<br \/>\npolitical affiliation, amid criticism that the initiative could be used for&#13;<br \/>\npolitical mobilisation.<\/p>\n<p>The Nyota programme has already been rolled out in Kakamega,&#13;<br \/>\nEldoret and Nakuru counties.<\/p>\n<p>Further disbursements have been planned for Meru, Machakos,&#13;<br \/>\nNairobi, the Coast and Nyanza regions.<\/p>\n<p>Koome to swear in two&#13;<br \/>\nJudicial Service Commission commissioners<\/p>\n<p>Chief Justice Martha Koome will preside over the swearing in&#13;<br \/>\nof two Commissioners of the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).<\/p>\n<p>Lady Justice Njoki Ndungu was recently elected by the Judges&#13;<br \/>\nof the Supreme Court as their Representative at the JSC, while Chief Magistrate&#13;<br \/>\nEverlyne Olwande was re-elected for a second term by members of the Kenya&#13;<br \/>\nMagistrates and Judges Association.
