{"id":20637,"date":"2026-01-13T11:44:09","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T11:44:09","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/20637\/"},"modified":"2026-01-13T11:44:09","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T11:44:09","slug":"ghanas-insurance-commissioner-elected-vice-president-of-continental-regulatory-body","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/20637\/","title":{"rendered":"Ghana\u2019s Insurance Commissioner elected Vice President of continental regulatory body\u00a0\u00a0"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>By Jibril Abdul Mumuni<\/p>\n<p>Accra, Jan 13, GNA \u2013 Dr Abiba Zakariah, the Commissioner, National Insurance Commission (NIC), has been elected as the Vice President of the Organisation of African Insurance Supervisory Authorities (OAISA).\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The election took place at the OAISA 2025 Annual General Meeting held from November 16 to 21 in Harare, Zimbabwe.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The OAISA is an association under the umbrella of the African Insurance Organisation with a focus on harmonising regulations and promoting cooperation among African insurance supervisors.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dr Zakariah\u2019s election as the vice president is a significant recognition of Ghana\u2019s advancing expertise and leadership in the field of insurance regulation and supervision on the African continent.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>In her acceptance speech, she pledged to uphold the values of OAISA and work collaboratively to advance its objectives.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>She emphasised Ghana\u2019s continued dedication to fostering robust, inclusive, and well-supervised insurance markets that protected policyholders and contributed to economic stability.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis role is a testament to the collective progress of Ghana\u2019s insurance sector.
