He\u2019s been well manicured. He\u2019s been well \u2018pepperonied\u2019 for this job,\u201d the governor added.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Consultations<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1021517\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/04\/hamzat-gbajabiamila-1.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"650\" height=\"350\"  \/>Hamzat (right) has been Lagos State deputy governor since 2019. X@drobafemihamzat<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The deputy governor has been holding consultations with key members of the ruling party ahead of the 2027 governorship race for Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>On Sunday, he met with <a href=\"https:\/\/www.channelstv.com\/2026\/04\/26\/hamzat-apc-leaders-consult-gbajabiamila-ahead-of-2027-governorship-election\/\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Femi Gbajabiamila,<\/a> the Chief of Staff to President Bola Tinubu, to consult.<\/p>\n<p>Those who attended the meeting included the Secretary of the Governors\u2019 Advisory Council, Muti Are; Senator Ganiyu Olanrewaju Solomon; Bode Oyedele; Senator Musiliu Obanikoro; Adekunle Olayinka; Chairman of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education Board, Hakeem Shittu, among others.<\/p>\n<p>Leading the conversation, Obanikoro said they had come to seek Gbajabiamila\u2019s support for Hamzat.<\/p>\n<p>The former lawmaker said that the deputy governor is well-grounded in Lagos State politics and needs the support of the leaders of the APC to win the governorship race.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\ufeff<\/p>\n<p>In his remarks, Hamzat said that Nigeria must not fail, expressing confidence that the party would win the election at the federal and state levels.<\/p>\n<p>According to him, APC is an organised party, and its leadership structure must be sustained, which is why he has come to visit the chief of staff.<\/p>\n<p>Hamzat also noted that the economic stability achieved by President Tinubu must be maintained, and the party must get it right in picking its governorship aspirant to maintain the governance structure in Lagos State.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe discussed the direction of our state and the work required to move it forward.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt remains our shared responsibility to strengthen Lagos and continue delivering better outcomes for our people.
