A record-breaking player, emerging broadcaster, and leader of the Capricorn Eagles, Wittmann represents a generation of women in cricket redefining what is possible, on the field, and in the way the game is told, understood, and experienced.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Even she currently has no direct involvement in the tournament in 2027, Wittmann\u2019s vision for Namibia builds on the international focus that the mens\u2019 competition will bring, and has its focus beyond results- It is about identity.<\/p>\n

\u201cOver the next two years, the vision is to build a consistently competitive team that qualifies regularly for global events, including the next World Cup, while also challenging higher-ranked nations,\u201d she explains.<\/p>\n

But beyond rankings and qualification pathways, there is something deeper driving that ambition.<\/p>\n

\u201cBeyond results, the aim is for the team to be known for its professionalism, work ethic, and the way Namibia is represented \u2013 playing with pride, always.\u201d

It is a philosophy rooted in long-term growth, creating depth, sharpening game awareness, and developing athletes capable of performing under pressure. In many ways, it mirrors the broader journey of women\u2019s cricket in emerging nations: steady, intentional, and deeply purposeful.<\/p>\n

As the holder of the fastest T20I half-century by a Namibian, Wittmann understands the weight of individual performance. But leadership requires something different, something more nuanced.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is definitely a balancing act, but over time there has been a clear separation between the two roles,\u201d she says. \u201cWhen going out to bat, the focus is purely on contributing as a batter. The same applies when bowling or fielding, being fully present in the role as a player.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur marketing manager approached me to ask if I\u2019d be interested in commentating during a recent friendly series\u2026 Being someone who enjoys new challenges, I said yes, mostly to push myself out of my comfort zone.\u201d<\/p>\n

What started as a personal challenge quickly became a new dimension of her relationship with the game. \u201cBeing in the commentary box forces you to analyse situations more deeply, recognise patterns, and think ahead.\u201d<\/p>\n

That perspective, she says, has changed her as a player.\u00a0 \u201cIt has definitely made me a more aware cricketer and continues to improve my decision-making on the field.\u201d But beyond personal growth, her presence behind the mic carries deeper significance.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhen female players tell these stories, it\u2019s not just analysis, it\u2019s lived experience.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s passion, it\u2019s pride, and it\u2019s honesty. And for the young girls watching, that authenticity matters, they can see themselves in us and believe that their journey is possible too.\u201d<\/p>\n

For Wittmann, storytelling is powerful. \u201cThere has long been a perception that women\u2019s cricket lacks intensity or skill, but closer to the game, a very different reality is clear.\u201d<\/p>\n
