Kenol\u2013Sagana\u2013Marua Highway project \/ KeNHA<\/p>\n
President William Ruto has inspected the 84-kilometre Kenol\u2013Sagana\u2013Marua Road
\nProject, which the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) says is now 93 per
\ncent complete.<\/p>\n
The project forms part of the Great North Road
\ncorridor and is being upgraded into a dual carriageway intended to accommodate
\nhigh traffic volumes, improve regional connectivity and enhance road safety.<\/p>\n
According to KeNHA, the upgraded road has been engineered to withstand
\ndiverse weather conditions and deliver long-term durability.<\/p>\n

In addition to easing transport and logistics,
\nthe project features several social and economic amenities, including a trauma
\ncentre in Sagana, modern roadside markets, sanitary facilities, motorcycle
\nsheds, improved local access roads and tree-planting initiatives aimed at
\nsupporting environmental sustainability.<\/p>\n
The Kenol\u2013Sagana\u2013Marua Highway project is part of the Kenyan section of the
\nTrans-Africa Highway.<\/p>\n
The road passes through Nairobi and extends to Moyale, linking the capital
\nto the agriculturally and commercially rich Mount Kenya region, and onward to
\nEthiopia via the Moyale border.<\/p>\n

Once complete, the project is expected to
\nenhance the movement of goods, services and people between counties in Central
\nand Eastern Kenya, improve connectivity with Nairobi, and strengthen regional
\ntrade links with Ethiopia.<\/p>\n
The project involves dualling 84 kilometres of
\nthe Kenol\u2013Sagana\u2013Marua road, including the construction of grade-separated
\njunctions, road safety interventions and complementary social initiatives.<\/p>\n
The total cost of the project is EUR 257.68
\nmillion, co-financed by the African Development Bank Group (69 per cent), the
\nAfrica Growing Together Fund (12 per cent) and the Government of Kenya (19 per
\ncent).<\/p>\n
