Nicol\u00e1s Maduro\u2019s abduction during U.S. military attacks.<\/p>\n<p>South Africa has also taken the matter to the UN Security Council, urging it \u201cto urgently convene to address\u201d the situation in Venezuela.<\/p>\n<p>The AU\u2019s position was outlined in a communiqu\u00e9 on the situation in Venezuela issued on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe African Union reaffirms its steadfast commitment to international law, including respect for sovereignty, territorial integrity, and peoples\u2019 right to self-determination,\u201d it stated.<\/p>\n<p>The AU stressed \u201cdialogue, peaceful settlement of disputes, and respect for constitutional and institutional frameworks\u201d as essential to peaceful coexistence among nations.<\/p>\n<p>It emphasised that Venezuela\u2019s complex internal challenges can only be resolved through inclusive political dialogue among Venezuelans themselves.<\/p>\n<p>      <a href=\"https:\/\/whatsapp.com\/channel\/0029Va8KucvJpe8eFOl3En22\" solidarity with the Venezuelan people and reiterated its commitment to peace, stability, and mutual respect among nations and regions.<\/p>\n<p>It called on all parties to exercise restraint, responsibility, and respect for international law to prevent escalation and preserve regional peace.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, South Africa said US actions constituted a \u201cmanifest violation of the UN Charter\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The Charter, it noted, requires states to refrain from the threat or use of force against the territorial integrity or political independence of any state.<\/p>\n<p>South Africa added that the Charter does not authorise external military intervention in matters within a sovereign nation\u2019s domestic jurisdiction.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHistory has repeatedly demonstrated that military invasions yield only instability and deepening crisis,\u201d the statement said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cUnlawful, unilateral force undermines the international order and the principle of President Donald Trump announced the operation on Truth Social, saying Mr Maduro and his wife had been captured and flown out of Venezuela.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe United States has successfully carried out a large-scale strike against Venezuela and its leader,\u201d Mr Trump posted.<\/p>\n<p>US Attorney General Pam Bondi said the pair would face \u201cthe full wrath of American justice on American
