{"id":21442,"date":"2026-01-13T19:57:08","date_gmt":"2026-01-13T19:57:08","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/21442\/"},"modified":"2026-01-13T19:57:08","modified_gmt":"2026-01-13T19:57:08","slug":"pedestrian-fatally-hit-by-bus-in-front-of-salt-river-fire-station","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/21442\/","title":{"rendered":"Pedestrian fatally hit by bus in front of Salt River Fire Station"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A culpable homicide case is under investigation after a pedestrian was fatally struck early Tuesday morning in Victoria Road, Woodstock by a Golden Arrow Bus.<\/p>\n<p>Woodstock police are investigating a culpable homicide case after a man allegedly walked into the path of the oncoming bus at around 5.27am.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The man, reportedly in his 50s, was struck by the bus, which was carrying passengers at the time, directly opposite the Salt River firestation.<\/p>\n<p>A video of the incident taken by another driver passing by shows the gruesome scene.<\/p>\n<p>Spokesperson for the Golden Arrow Bus Service, Bronwen Dyke-Beyer said that the driver operating the Nyanga-Cape Town route was unable to avoid the collision.<\/p>\n<p>Dyke-Beyer explained: \u201cGolden Arrow can confirm an incident that occurred at approximately 5.30am on Tuesday morning involving one of our buses operating on the Nyanga\u2013Cape Town route.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAccording to preliminary information, a pedestrian walked directly into the path of the oncoming bus. The driver was unable to avoid the collision, and the pedestrian was tragically declared deceased at the scene.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe bus was carrying passengers at the time. Golden Arrow extends its sincere condolences to the family and loved ones of the deceased.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Daily Voice sources in the Woodstock and Salt River area could not identify the deceased or confirm if the victim is a resident in the area.<\/p>\n<p>Police spokesperson Captain FC Van Wyk confirmed that Woodstock police are investigating a culpable homicide case with no arrests made as yet.<\/p>\n<p>Van Wyk reported: \u201cWoodstock police registered a culpable homicide case following an accident this morning (Tuesday, 13 January) at 5.27am in Victoria Road, Woodstock in which an unidentified male in his 50s was fatally injured.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCircumstances surrounding this accident are under investigation.
