A rescue operation is underway for two US<\/a> service personnel who went missing during military exercises in Morocco<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The two soldiers disappeared in south-western Morocco after taking part in annual multinational military exercises, the United States Africa Command (Africom) said Sunday.<\/p>\n

The US, Morocco and other countries involved in the war games have launched a search and rescue operation to track down the soldiers.<\/p>\n

They went missing on May 2 near the Cap Draa training area near Tan Tan, close to the Atlantic Ocean.<\/p>\n

Both personnel are with the Army and were on a hike when they are believed to have fallen from a cliff and into the ocean, ABC<\/a> reports.<\/p>\n

Helicopters, drones and naval vessels, as well as mountaineers and divers are all trying to track down the soldiers.<\/p>\n

Africom said in a statement: \u2018The incident remains under investigation and the search is on-going.\u2019<\/p>\n

The exercises started in April and span four countries, including Tunisia<\/a>, Ghana<\/a> and Senegal<\/a>.<\/p>\n

African Lion is the largest US joint military exercise on the continent and is run by high-ranking military officials from the US and its allies.<\/p>\n
