{"id":21851,"date":"2026-01-14T00:59:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T00:59:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/21851\/"},"modified":"2026-01-14T00:59:06","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T00:59:06","slug":"uganda-police-arrest-80-suspects-in-early-morning-crime-crackdown-in-kampala","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/21851\/","title":{"rendered":"Uganda: Police Arrest 80 Suspects in Early Morning Crime Crackdown in Kampala"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"story-body-text\" data-para-word-count=\"24\">Kampala police carried out a major early morning operation on Tuesday, arresting 80 suspects in a bid to curb criminal activities across the city.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\" data-para-word-count=\"24\">The operation, conducted at around 2am, targeted known crime hotspots including Arua Park, Old Taxi Park, Nakivubo Road, Biwologoma, Nkrumah, Punjani, and Mukwano Roundabout.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\" data-para-word-count=\"18\">Authorities said the crackdown focused on individuals involved in waylaying members of the public and other unlawful activities.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\" data-para-word-count=\"22\">&#8220;All suspects are currently in police custody pending court appearance,&#8221; said Racheal Kawala, spokesperson for the Kampala Metropolitan Area, while addressing reporters.<\/p>\n<p class=\"story-body-text\" data-para-word-count=\"35\">Kawala emphasized that the operation is part of ongoing efforts to ensure the safety of residents and commuters.
