{"id":222539,"date":"2026-05-07T03:27:23","date_gmt":"2026-05-07T03:27:23","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/222539\/"},"modified":"2026-05-07T03:27:23","modified_gmt":"2026-05-07T03:27:23","slug":"tanzanian-mp-prays-for-rutos-re-election-after-parliament-address-2","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/222539\/","title":{"rendered":"Tanzanian MP prays for Ruto\u2019s re-election after Parliament address"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/05\/8137b264-6e71-4cdb-9d91-8f09542a09b5.jpeg\" style=\"max-width: 100%; width: 100%;\" class=\"ui-draggable ui-draggable-handle\"\/>President William Ruto (left) inside the Tanzania parliament and Singida West MP Emmanuel Kingu on Tuesday, May 5 \/SCREENGRAB<\/p>\n<p>Applause filled&#13;<br \/>\nTanzania\u2019s Parliament Tuesday after a legislator delivered an&#13;<br \/>\nunexpected prayer wishing President William Ruto victory in the 2027 general election.<\/p>\n<p>Singida West&#13;<br \/>\nconstituency MP Emmanuel Kingu delivered the heartfelt remarks in the National Assembly in Dodoma, following President&#13;<br \/>\nRuto\u2019s powerful speech to lawmakers. &#13;\n<\/p>\n<p>Ruto was in Tanzania&#13;<br \/>\nfor a two-day state visit aimed at strengthening bilateral ties&#13;<br \/>\nbetween the neighbouring countries.<\/p>\n<p>In an emotional&#13;<br \/>\naddress that drew applause from members, Kingu said Ruto\u2019s speech&#13;<br \/>\nhad reminded him of the enduring dreams of the founding fathers of&#13;<br \/>\nboth nations, Julius Nyerere and Jomo Kenyatta, which he said&#13;<br \/>\ncontinue to live on through current leaders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe words spoken&#13;<br \/>\nby President Ruto in this House today have reminded me of two things:&#13;<br \/>\nthat the dreams of Mwalimu Nyerere and Mzee Kenyatta are still alive&#13;<br \/>\nin the hearts of our presidents, Samia Suluhu Hassan and Dr William&#13;<br \/>\nRuto,\u201d Kingu said.<\/p>\n<p>He praised Ruto\u2019s&#13;<br \/>\nleadership, noting that his address demonstrated the trust Kenyans&#13;<br \/>\nplaced in him was not misplaced. &#13;\n<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are convinced&#13;<br \/>\nthat the love President Ruto has for Kenyans shows they did not make&#13;<br \/>\na mistake in choosing him as their leader,\u201d Kingu said.<\/p>\n<p>Kingu emphasised the&#13;<br \/>\ndeep historical and cultural ties between Kenya and Tanzania,&#13;<br \/>\ndescribing citizens of both nations as \u201cbrothers and sisters\u201d&#13;<br \/>\nwhose unity transcends borders.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cParliament of&#13;<br \/>\nTanzania considers Kenyans as our blood relatives. Borders cannot&#13;<br \/>\ndivide us,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>In a rare moment in&#13;<br \/>\nparliamentary proceedings, the MP offered a prayer for Ruto, quoting&#13;<br \/>\nthe Bible from Psalms 121:7-8 and asking for divine protection over&#13;<br \/>\nthe Kenyan leader. &#13;\n<\/p>\n<p>He expressed&#13;<br \/>\nconfidence in Ruto\u2019s leadership and wished him victory in the next&#13;<br \/>\ngeneral election.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs Tanzanians, we&#13;<br \/>\nwill continue praying for you. May God protect you in all your work&#13;<br \/>\nnow and forever,\u201d Kingu said, adding, \u201cGo as a hero, Ruto.
