Local pricing for the initial LEGO Pok\u00e9mon sets has been revealed. <\/p>\n

The biggest set will cost R12 999. <\/p>\n

The two smaller sets will cost R3 999 and R1 199. <\/p>\n

The first-ever LEGO Pok\u00e9mon sets are right around the corner, with the launch set for late February and early March. Ahead of the buildable creatures arriving on shelves, South Africans now know how much they will need to pay.<\/p>\n

The headline is the largest set of the wave representing the final evolutions of the original three starter Pok\u00e9mon. This set made waves for its high price even overseas, and now we know that it will cost R12 999 locally. <\/p>\n

The two smaller sets representing Pikachu and Eevee will cost R3 999 and R1 199 respectively. <\/p>\n

To put the localised pricing into perspective, we\u2019ve broken down the figures in the table below compared to the European pricing. The South African pricing is usually based on what the EU zones will pay and it creates a fairer comparison since these EU prices include sales tax, which the American pricing does not. <\/p>\n

As you can see we are paying close to what our European counterparts are paying, but unfortunately more across the board \u2013 at least when using the conversion rate that was accurate at the time of writing. <\/p>\n

Reasons for our local pricing being higher \u2013 or lower \u2013 compared to the EU can come down to many factors including the size of the set, how long it may be on shelves, predicted pricing in the future based on later exchange rates and much more. With all of this in mind, while it is annoying to pay more, it\u2019s still much cheaper than other options like private importing. <\/p>\n

These prices and the above store links come to us from the LEGO Certified Stores in South Africa. Its online store has added the three sets to its new section<\/a>, but has not opened pre-orders, although it does allow you to click on \u201cnotify me\u201d where you can leave your email address to receive a communication when these products are live.<\/p>\n

The local release is simply written as \u201cComing Soon: February 2026\u201d.<\/p>\n

As we stated in our LEGO buyer\u2019s guide<\/a>, the LEGO Certified Stores sell LEGO at their proper RRP, so this is the official pricing in South Africa going forward. <\/p>\n

The only factor we\u2019re unsure of right now is the existance of the Gift With Purchase (GWP) free set which is included with 72153: Venusaur, Charizard and Blastoise. As we explained recently<\/a>, this GWP may have been a contributing factor to explain why this expensive collector\u2019s item sold out so fast overseas. <\/p>\n
