Mariyah Symone Collington, 19, of Tavares, Florida. She served as an air and missile defense crewmember and was assigned to Charlie Battery, 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cRoyal Moroccan Armed Forces transported the Soldier\u2019s remains by a Moroccan helicopter to the morgue of Moulay El Hassan Military Hospital in Guelmim, Morocco,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeafrica.army.mil\/ArticleViewPressRelease\/Article\/4486141\/press-release-us-army-recovers-identifies-second-soldier-near-cap-draa-morocco\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.europeafrica.army.mil\/ArticleViewPressRelease\/Article\/4486141\/press-release-us-army-recovers-identifies-second-soldier-near-cap-draa-morocco\/\">news release stated<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The body of the first soldier who went missing &#8212; First Lt. Kendrick Lamont Key Jr., of Richmond, Virginia &#8212; was recovered by a Moroccan military search team on Sunday from waters off the coast of southwest Morocco, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/05\/11\/us\/us-soldiers-missing-morocco-body-found.html\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2026\/05\/11\/us\/us-soldiers-missing-morocco-body-found.html\">The New York Times<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cThe loss of Spc. Collington is a profound loss for the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command,\u201d Brig. Gen. Curtis King, commanding general of the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, said in <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeafrica.army.mil\/ArticleViewPressRelease\/Article\/4486141\/press-release-us-army-recovers-identifies-second-soldier-near-cap-draa-morocco\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.europeafrica.army.mil\/ArticleViewPressRelease\/Article\/4486141\/press-release-us-army-recovers-identifies-second-soldier-near-cap-draa-morocco\/\">a statement<\/a>. \u201cHer recovery closes the search for our two missing Soldiers, but our commitment to caring for their Families, friends, and teammates continues. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">\u201cWe are grateful to the U.S. and Moroccan forces for their professionalism and support throughout the search efforts.\u201d <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.europeafrica.army.mil\/ArticleViewPressRelease\/Article\/4486141\/press-release-us-army-recovers-identifies-second-soldier-near-cap-draa-morocco\/\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/www.europeafrica.army.mil\/ArticleViewPressRelease\/Article\/4486141\/press-release-us-army-recovers-identifies-second-soldier-near-cap-draa-morocco\/\">news release<\/a>, Collington entered the Regular Army\u2019s Delayed Entry Program in 2023 before beginning active-duty service in 2024. She completed Basic Combat Training and Advanced Individual Training at Fort Sill, Oklahoma, as a 14P air and missile defense crewmember. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">She reported to Charlie Battery, 5th Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, in Ansbach, Germany, in February 2025 and was promoted to specialist on May 1, 2026. <\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">She went missing the next day.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">A spokesperson for U.S. Army Southern European Task Force, Africa told <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/morocco-united-states-soldiers-remains-recovered-1f53adf0633974fa5da4a8f0b6ef68ce\" target=\"_self\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" title=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/morocco-united-states-soldiers-remains-recovered-1f53adf0633974fa5da4a8f0b6ef68ce\">The Associated Press<\/a> that the circumstances surrounding the incident remain under investigation.<\/p>\n<p class=\"default__StyledText-sc-tl066j-0 gJuxXh body-paragraph\">The two soldiers were reported missing on May 2 after participating in African Lion, an annual multinational military exercise held in Morocco.
