{"id":23586,"date":"2026-01-14T20:10:07","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T20:10:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/23586\/"},"modified":"2026-01-14T20:10:07","modified_gmt":"2026-01-14T20:10:07","slug":"ontario-man-who-lost-family-in-ethiopia-plane-crash-reaches-settlement-with-boeing-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/23586\/","title":{"rendered":"Ontario man who lost family in Ethiopia plane crash reaches settlement with Boeing"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"c-paragraph\">A Canadian man who lost several family members in the 2019 crash of a Boeing jet in Ethiopia has settled his lawsuit against the plane manufacturer just before a trial was set to begin in Chicago. <\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The law firm representing Manant Vaidya, a Brampton, Ont., man who lost his parents, sister, brother-in-law and two young nieces in the crash, says the case was settled for a confidential amount on Tuesday as opening statements were set to begin in a U.S. district court.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">All 157 people on board were killed when the Boeing 737 Max 8 aircraft malfunctioned and crashed on March 10, 2019, including 18 Canadian citizens and other foreign nationals who were living in Canada.<\/p>\n<p class=\"c-paragraph\">The crash of Ethiopian Airlines Flight 302 en route to Kenya happened shortly after takeoff from Addis Ababa Bole International Airport in Ethiopia.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" data-chromatic=\"ignore\" alt=\"\" class=\"c-image\" loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/WH5XZ7DXWRDPE3RYEIYUE7GHQI.jpg\"  width=\"800\" height=\"527\"\/>Workers collect debris on March 12, 2019 at the scene where an Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 Max 8 crashed shortly after takeoff, killing all 157 on board, near Bishoftu, or Debre Zeit, south of Addis Ababa, in Ethiopia.
