{"id":238,"date":"2026-01-03T12:19:56","date_gmt":"2026-01-03T12:19:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/238\/"},"modified":"2026-01-03T12:19:56","modified_gmt":"2026-01-03T12:19:56","slug":"live-ammunition-and-explosives-found-in-benoni-wendy-house","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/238\/","title":{"rendered":"Live ammunition and explosives found in Benoni Wendy house"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>\n\t\tOfficers from EMPD and Saps recovered a mortar bomb, an R1 rifle magazine and 79 live rounds .\n\t<\/p>\n<p>A tip-off led the Ekurhuleni Metropolitan Police Department (EMPD) and the South African Police Service (Saps) to uncover live ammunition and explosives in a Benoni guest house Wendy house.<\/p>\n<p>The EMPD Community Liaison Unit (CLU) officers and the K9 Unit officers, in collaboration with the Saps Explosive Unit officers, uncovered live ammunition and explosives in the Lakefield area.<\/p>\n<p>The officers conducted a thorough search after law enforcement received a tip-off. Picture: Supplied.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe EMPD K9 Unit\u2019s explosive detection dog confirmed the presence of military-grade explosives.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hidden inside the Wendy house were a 60 mm mortar bomb and a 60 mm illuminating bomb.
