Uganda has named a formidable team for the World Cross Country Championships set for January 10 in Tallahassee, Florida, with world-class distance runner Jacob Kiplimo confirmed as team captain.<\/p>\n

Uganda Athletics announced the squad on Thursday, saying the national team is fully prepared for the global showdown as the country seeks to reaffirm its status as a powerhouse in long-distance running.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe national team is locked in and ready for the challenge in Tallahassee. Our athletes are motivated, focused and proud to represent the nation,\u201d Uganda Athletics said in a statement. \u201cEyes on the prize, hearts for the nation.\u201d<\/p>\n

Kiplimo, a former world cross country champion and multiple world record holder, will lead a strong senior men\u2019s team that includes Dolphine Chelimo, Dan Kibet, Emmanuel Kibet, Keneth Kiprop and Deogracius Musobo.<\/p>\n

In the senior women\u2019s race, Uganda will be represented by Sarah Chelangat, Rebecca Chelangat, Kereen Chemusto, Martha Chemutai, Joy Cheptoyek and Rispa Cherop, a blend of experienced performers and emerging talent.<\/p>\n

Uganda has also named competitive under-20 squads, reflecting continued investment in youth development. The U20 women\u2019s team features Peace Chebet, Felister Chekwemoi, Nancy Chepkwurui, Charity Cherop and Bentalin Yeko, while the U20 men\u2019s side includes Solomon Andiema, Daniel Kiprotich Chelogoi, Abraham Cherotich, Dan Kipyeko and Jeremiah Kwemoi.<\/p>\n

The mixed relay team will be made up of Brenda Chekwemoi, Sylvia Chelangat, Silas Chemutai and Daniel Comboni.<\/p>\n

Officials expressed confidence that the team can compete for podium finishes across categories.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith leaders like Jacob Kiplimo and a strong supporting cast across all divisions, we believe Uganda can challenge the best in the world,\u201d a Uganda Athletics official said. \u201cThis championship is not just about medals, but about showing the depth and future of Ugandan athletics.\u201d<\/p>\n
