{"id":24282,"date":"2026-01-15T05:00:18","date_gmt":"2026-01-15T05:00:18","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/24282\/"},"modified":"2026-01-15T05:00:18","modified_gmt":"2026-01-15T05:00:18","slug":"bill-and-hillary-clinton-refuse-to-testify-in-house-epstein-probe","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/24282\/","title":{"rendered":"Bill and Hillary Clinton refuse to testify in House Epstein probe"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>                Bill and Hillary Clinton refuse to testify in House Epstein probe            <\/p>\n<p class=\"video-desc\">Bill and Hillary Clinton on Tuesday refused to testify in a Republican-led congressional investigation of the late convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, saying it was a partisan exercise.<\/p>\n<p class=\"video-desc\">\u201cEvery person has to decide when they have seen or had enough and are ready to fight for this country, its principles and its people, no matter the consequences,\u201d the Clintons wrote in a letter to Republican Representative James Comer, who chairs the House of Representatives Oversight Committee. \u201cFor us, now is that time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"video-desc\">Comer said the committee will meet next week to hold former Democratic President Bill Clinton in contempt. That could potentially lead to criminal charges.<\/p>\n<p class=\"video-desc\">A committee spokesperson said the panel will also begin contempt proceedings against Hillary Clinton, the 2016 Democratic presidential nominee, if she does not appear before the panel on Wednesday.<\/p>\n<p class=\"video-desc\">The Clintons said they had tried to provide what \u201clittle information\u201d they had to help with the investigation and accused Comer of shifting focus away from the Trump administration\u2019s actions. Epstein died in jail in 2019, during President Donald Trump\u2019s first term in office, while awaiting trial on federal sex-trafficking charges. His death was ruled a suicide.<\/p>\n<p class=\"video-desc\">\u201cIf the Government didn\u2019t do all it could to investigate and prosecute these crimes, for whatever reason, that should be the focus of your work\u2026 There is no evidence that you are doing so,\u201d the Clintons wrote.<\/p>\n<p class=\"video-desc\">\u201cThere is no plausible explanation for what you are doing other than partisan politics,\u201d they said.<\/p>\n<p>EPSTEIN WHITE HOUSE VISITS AND FLIGHTS<\/p>\n<p class=\"video-desc\">Comer said \u201cmost Americans\u201d want Bill Clinton to answer questions about his ties to Epstein. The Kentucky Republican said Epstein visited the White House 17 times while Clinton was in office and that the former president had flown on Epstein\u2019s plane some 27 times.<\/p>\n<p class=\"video-desc\">Clinton has expressed regret about the relationship and has said he knew nothing about Epstein\u2019s criminal activity.
