Tanzania openers\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/cricketers\/dylan-thakrar-1518636\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Dylan Thakrar<\/a>\u00a0(26) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/cricketers\/darpan-jobanputra-1518637\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Darpan Jobanputra<\/a>\u00a0(19) put on a 53-run opening stand to frustrate West Indies\u2019 new-ball bowlers before medium pacer Jonathan Van Lange broke the stand.<\/p>\n<p>Seamer\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/cricketers\/shaquan-belle-1500749\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Shaquan Belle<\/a>, who took the catch to break the first-wicket stand, then dismissed Thakrar in the 15th over, ran number three Ayaan Shariff out in the 16th, and got Augustino Mwamele in the 19th.<\/p>\n<p>The three wickets in three overs opened up Tanzania\u2019s batting, and a procession of wickets followed.<\/p>\n<p>Left-arm wrist-spinner\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/cricketers\/vitel-lawes-1500757\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Vitel Lawes<\/a>\u00a0ran through the lower-middle order for a three-wicket haul, and Tanzania folded for 122 in the 34th over.<\/p>\n<p>In the chase, Tanzania\u2019s seamer Mwamele got an early breakthrough to remove West Indies opener Zachary Carter in the fourth over. But an 80-run second-wicket partnership between\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/cricketers\/tanez-francis-1511560\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Tanez Francis<\/a>\u00a0(52) and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/cricketers\/jewel-andrew-1394273\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Jewel Andrew<\/a>\u00a0(44) eased the chase.<\/p>\n<p>Although West Indies lost four wickets between the 17th and 20th overs for a brief stutter, the low target meant they eventually cruised to their first win in Group D with 29 overs to spare.<\/p>\n<p>West Indies next play Afghanistan on January 18, followed by their final group game against South Africa on January 22. Both games will start at 03:30h.<\/p>\n<p>India survive scare to beat USA<\/p>\n<p>SUMMARY: India\u00a099-4 from 17.2 overs (Abhigyan Kundu 42*; Ritvik Appidi 2-24) beat\u00a0USA\u00a0107 (Nitish Sudini 36; Henil Patel 5-16) by six wickets (via DLS)<\/p>\n<p>Five-time champions\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/team\/india-under-19s-young-cricketers-1803\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">India<\/a>\u00a0began their campaign with a\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/series\/men-s-under-19-world-cup-2025-26-1511849\/india-under-19s-vs-united-states-of-america-under-19s-1st-match-group-b-1511850\/full-scorecard\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">six-wicket win<\/a>\u00a0(via DLS) over\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/team\/united-states-of-america-under-19s-3708\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">United States of America<\/a>, but not without a brief scare.<\/p>\n<p>When right-arm quick\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/cricketers\/henil-patel-1490146\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Henil Patel<\/a>\u2018s five-wicket haul skittled USA for 107, it looked like it would be an easy win for India. However, in a rain-affected chase, India lost three wickets- including those of captain Ayush Mhatre and Vaibhav Sooryavanshi- inside the first six overs.<\/p>\n<p>But\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/cricketers\/abhigyan-kundu-1395402\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Abhigyan Kundu<\/a>, who hit a double-century in the Under-19 Asia Cup in the lead up to the World Cup, played an assured knock to seal the deal.<\/p>\n<p>Zimbabwe and Scotland match abandoned<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/team\/zimbabwe-under-19s-3871\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Zimbabwe<\/a>, the tournament co-hosts, and\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/team\/scotland-under-19s-young-cricketers-3452\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Scotland<\/a>, were left sharing a point each after no play was possible at the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.espncricinfo.com\/series\/men-s-under-19-world-cup-2025-26-1511849\/zimbabwe-under-19s-vs-scotland-under-19s-2nd-match-group-c-1511851\/live-cricket-score\" rel=\"nofollow noopener\" target=\"_blank\">Takashinga Sports Club in Harare<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Zimbabwe\u2019s next Group C opponents are England (January 18), while Scotland next face Pakistan (January 19).
