Brown, and produced by Moses Bwayo (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinemafocus.com\/review-bobi-wine-the-peoples-president-captures-the-true-scale-of-an-underdogs-fight-against-an-immovable-power\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Bobi Wine: The People\u2019s President<\/a>), Mike Morrisroe, and Joseph Njenga.<\/p>\n<p>The film will make its world premiere in the World Cinema Documentary Competition at the 2026 Sundance Film Festival, which runs from 22 January to 1 February. As\u00a0romance gives way to marriage and family life, small miscommunications grow into deep\u00a0fractures shaped by gender roles, financial pressure, and unmet emotional needs. When\u00a0love collapses into divorce, both must confront the uncomfortable truth that\u00a0understanding each other was never the problem, listening was.<\/p>\n<p>She Gets Me premieres at the Kenya National Theatre on 11 February 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Tides (Musical drama feature)<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinemafocus.com\/nollywood-film-safari-nigeria-kenya-collaboration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Reuben Odanga<\/a> returns as writer and director with Tides (working title), his third feature film following the 2021 drama <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinemafocus.com\/review-nafsi-has-enough-soul-to-linger-for-long\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Nafsi<\/a> and Kenya\u2019s first Christmas feature, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinemafocus.com\/a-familiar-christmas-follows-a-very-familiar-formula\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">A Familiar Christmas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>While details are still under wraps, Odanga describes Tides as \u201ca musical drama\u201d and \u201ca bold and emotionally charged film set in contemporary Kenya, exploring generational conflict, forbidden love, and social conservatism.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Currently in post-production, Tides is set to release in March 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Truck Mama (Documentary feature)<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"695\" height=\"709\" src=\"data:image\/svg+xml,%3Csvg%20xmlns=\" http:=\"\" alt=\"Kenyan documentary Truck Mama.\" class=\"wp-image-9829\" style=\"width:517px;height:auto\" data-lazy- data-lazy- data-lazy-src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Truck-Mama.png\"\/><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"695\" height=\"709\" src=\"https:\/\/www.europesays.com\/africa\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/01\/Truck-Mama.png\" alt=\"Kenyan documentary Truck Mama.\" class=\"wp-image-9829\" style=\"width:517px;height:auto\"  \/>\u2018Truck Mama.\u2019 RED SEA FILM FESTIVAL<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinemafocus.com\/kenya-east-africa-2025-red-sea-film-festival-souk\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Truck Mama<\/a> premiered in competition at the Red Sea International Film Festival in December 2025 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The film is expected to continue screening at more international festivals, with a Kenyan premiere also anticipated in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by Zippy Nyaruri, Truck Mama\u00a0follows a single mother and truck driver in Kenya navigating dangerous roads to provide for her family. It follows the disenchanted wife of a Nigerian senator, who, amid her husband\u2019s presidential campaign and marital issues, travels to Kenya for a vacation.<\/p>\n<p>Against the backdrop of Kenya\u2019s scenic beauty and Nigeria\u2019s political tension, what begins as a peaceful escape soon spirals out of control when she becomes entangled with a local beach boy accused of the murder of a British tourist.<\/p>\n<p>Led by Osas Ighodaro (King of Boys), the Nigerian cast also features Ali Nuhu (The Trade) and Jide Kene Achufusi (Out of Breath). The Kenyan cast includes Emmanuel Mugo (Big Girl Small World,\u00a0Jiji) leads a local ensemble including Ken Ambani (A Better Life), Helen Keli (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinemafocus.com\/single-kiasi-s3-review-a-cocktail-of-good-bad-and-unnecessary\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Single Kiasi<\/a>), Stuart Nash (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinemafocus.com\/review-pepeta-probes-the-uncertain-future-of-kiberas-youth\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Pepeta<\/a>), and Joel Otukho (Lazizi<\/p>\n<p>The Kenyan-Nigerian production is directed by Nigerian filmmaker Obi Emelonye (The Mirror Boy, Last Flight to Abuja) who also co-produces alongside Kenya\u2019s Reuben Odanga (Nafsi, Mo-Faya).<\/p>\n<p>Already released in Nigeria in 2025, Safari is expected to premiere in Kenya in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Read more about Safari <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinemafocus.com\/nollywood-film-safari-nigeria-kenya-collaboration\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>One Woman One Bra (Drama feature)<\/p>\n<p>Another Kenyan-Nigerian co-production, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinemafocus.com\/kenya-films-venice-2025-memory-of-princess-mumbi-one-woman-one-bra\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">One Woman One Bra<\/a> marks the feature debut of writer-director Vincho Nchogu and is produced by Nigeria\u2019s Josh Olaoluwa.<\/p>\n<p>The film follows a 38-year-old woman in the village of Sayit, whose fight to secure her home amid land reforms leads her on a search for identity, kinship and belonging that pits her against her own community.<\/p>\n<p>The cast includes Sarah Karei (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinemafocus.com\/kenyan-film-sarah-executive-produced-by-wanuri-kahiu-set-for-march-release\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Sarah<\/a>), Irungu Mutu (Power), Norng\u2019aruani Kipuker, Amos Leuka, Boniface Saitabau, and Davina Leonard (Poacher).<\/p>\n<p>One Woman One Bra premiered at the 2025 Venice Film Festival before screening at BFI London, where it won the Sutherland Award for Best First Feature. A Kenyan premiere is expected in 2026.<\/p>\n<p>Bus 338 (Survival thriller feature)<\/p>\n<p>In 2025, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinemafocus.com\/serah-ndanu-teshna-production-company-film-bus-338\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Serah Ndanu <\/a>launched her production company SNT Productions, and with it, Bus 338 \u2013 her first feature as producer.<\/p>\n<p>Directed by Isaya Evans (Grogan\u2019s Lodge) from a script by Angela Ruhinda (Binti), Bus 338 follows passengers on a lonely highway who must fight to survive when criminals hijack their bus. It stars Ndanu, Bilal Mwaura (40 Sticks), Robert Agengo (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinemafocus.com\/inside-kenyas-first-netflix-series-country-queen-what-worked-what-didnt\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Country Queen<\/a>), Pascal Tokodi (<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sinemafocus.com\/makosa-ni-yangu-review-a-delicate-balance-between-humour-and-dark-realities-of-gender-based-violence\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">Makosa ni Yangu<\/a>) and Godfrey Odhiambo (Crime and Justice).<\/p>\n<p>Originally scheduled for a Kenyan release first in 2025, the film instead premiered in the UK, debuting in London and Manchester. Produced with support from Africa No Filter, filming wrapped in December 2025 and the feature is currently in post-production ahead of its planned November 2026 release.<\/p>\n<p>Nje (Sci-fi short)<\/p>\n<p>Nje\u00a0is an atmospheric short set in a dystopian Kenya where corporations rule walled-off cities. Funded by Docubox, the film explores corporate greed, loyalty and technology. Filming is set to begin between February and March 2026 with a release slated for late 2026, according to director Omar Hamza.<\/p>\n<p>Itifaki (Spy thriller feature)<\/p>\n<p>Currently in development,\u00a0Itifaki\u00a0is Giza Visual\u2019s first espionage project. The story follows a reluctant ex-KDF soldier forced into a dangerous race against time, torn between loyalty and justice. A short version of the film won two Kalasha Awards in 2024 and received an AMVCA nomination the same year.<\/p>\n<p>Qahar (Film\u2013Mini-series hybrid, Somali co-production)<\/p>\n<p>According to Giza Visuals, Qahar blends the cinematic power of film with the scope of a mini-series, exploring how far people will go to survive. Currently in development,\u00a0Qahar\u00a0is a collaborative project between Giza and Somali\u2019s Aro\u2019or Films.<\/p>\n<p>Do you have a project releasing in 2026?
