width: 100%;\"\/>Kenya&#8217;s Special Envoy on Technology Ambassador Philip Thigo speaking in Geneva \/ HANDOUT<\/p>\n<p>Kenya has secured a major diplomatic and technological&#13;<br \/>\nmilestone after being selected to host the fourth edition of the Responsible AI&#13;<br \/>\nin the Military Domain (REAIM) Summit in April 2027.<\/p>\n<p>Kenya becomes the first African nation and the&#13;<br \/>\nfirst country in the Global South to host the summit.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement was made in Geneva by Kenya&#8217;s\u00a0Special Envoy on Technology Ambassador Philip Thigo,\u00a0on behalf of Defence Cabinet Secretary&#13;<br \/>\nSoipan Tuya, during the AI, Security and Ethics Conference.<\/p>\n<p>The summit, which brings together governments, defence&#13;<br \/>\ninstitutions, technology companies, academia and international organisations,&#13;<br \/>\nfocuses on ensuring the responsible development and deployment of artificial&#13;<br \/>\nintelligence in military operations while safeguarding international peace and&#13;<br \/>\nsecurity.<\/p>\n<p>Speaking after the announcement, Ambassador Thigo said&#13;<br \/>\nthe Nairobi summit would shift attention from policy discussions to practical&#13;<br \/>\nimplementation of responsible AI frameworks.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Summit will focus on practical&#13;<br \/>\nimplementation of responsible AI through capacity building, institutional&#13;<br \/>\nreadiness, international cooperation, and deeper engagement between&#13;<br \/>\ngovernments, defence institutions, industry, academia and international&#13;<br \/>\norganisations,&#8221; he said.<\/p>\n<p>He added that Kenya was ready to welcome the&#13;<br \/>\ninternational community to Nairobi for critical discussions on the intersection&#13;<br \/>\nof artificial intelligence, security, ethics and global peace.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Kenya looks forward to welcoming the global&#13;<br \/>\ncommunity to Nairobi to shape the crucial frameworks where military artificial&#13;<br \/>\nintelligence meets international peace, safety, and ethics,&#8221;
